Chapter 45B


Khushi’s POV


I hear two men speaking. It’s a strong voice and very near to me. I definitely realize I am been kidnapped and tied without food and water for no idea how long. I have passed out many a times in these hours and that’s because the dose they injected me using that needle was high. This time when I open my eyes, I see the two men in similar black uniform and masks like the one they wore when they came to abduct me from the Prime Safe house.


“she’s awake. Go tell master she’s awake,” one of them says.


I can’t see them clearly as I feel dizzy and the vision is blurred. But its evident that one of them has ran out to inform someone that I am awake.


“Where am I?” I shout with whatever left energy I possess.

The man doesn’t respond. I struggle to get free but I am bonded. And these bonds on my wrists and legs prick me. In a few minutes, the door opens again, my vision getting better than before but still blur enough to catch the real face of the people.

“Oh, the queen has woke up then”


This voice! I have never heard it. I blink twice, thrice and multiple times to see this person. He’s tall, old. Not Young for sure. His hair are greyed. He is definitely old. Is he Rana Pratap? I don’t know. Arnav had suspected him to be behind Jaipal’s death. Is he the one?


“Who are you?” I snap. “You don’t know what mistake you have done.”

“Mistake” he laughs. “Mistakes are evident. Everyone does it Khushi. And mistakes have consequences. And the worse thing is a person who does the mistake and the person who gets the consequences might not be the same. Just like in your case..”


What the hell is he talking?


“Curious to know, aren’t you? Humm” he laughs and then sits on the chair placed specially for him to interrogate me.

He’s just five feet away. I so wish I could kick him if he came closer than that. I remember Kate teaching me how to untangle the bonds!!Yes. She had trained me this during our self-defense training. I try to recall that but also don’t miss to listen what this man has to tell me.


“So, where were we? Yes.. Mistakes and consequences. Three men are injured because you did a mistake Khushi. Now don’t ask me what mistake. I am talking about the chip which you glued to your nape.”


What? He found it? How? I can’t even touch my nape to see if he’s telling the truth. That was the only one device which could help Devil track me. Damn hell. Does that mean I am doomed? Devil can’t reach me?


“Yes yes yes. He can’t reach you. Your devil can’t save you Khushi. I wont let him save you.”


I struggle again to untangle the bonds but they are tight. Never mind I will get them off soon. I am confident.


“It was such a lame thing to do. Gluing your secret mission chip to your neck before coming here. You think we would let a secret agent enter my den without been checked for any tracking devices? Every door of this den has that alarm to detect such devices. We caught it in few seconds and then all we had to do is put it on a dummy and place it at a fake location. Now let me tell you what happened there..” he laughs again.


Now I cringe. His laugh is mysterious… scary. I am scared.


“I planted mines in that device where we kept this dummy because of course we know Devil will come looking for you.. What I don’t understand is how does he know you had this tracking device?”


Oh No no No… Arnav picked the tracking device location but he couldn’t find me as this man here ambushed him and his team.


“As far as I know he doesn’t believe you are a spy and he takes you as his queen. So if he has found that tracking chip somehow after doing some rough investigation, it means he is now confident you are one of the secret mission come into his life to destroy him. Didn’t you?”


No. That’s not true. I am not the spy. Devil is. That tracking chip belonged to Devil not me but I cannot tell this man otherwise Arnav’s mission to end the dark world will doom.


“Anyway.. so I was telling you what happened there. Devil and his men came to save you and got injured..”

“How’s Arnav? How is he? Tell me he is fine..” I scream.


The man stares at me in disbelief.


“My my!! Look at her..” he mocks telling his other men. “She’s behaving like she loves Devil.”


The men laugh and I don’t care. All I want to know is that my husband is safe. I raise myself a bit to untangle the bonds but nothing works and I have to sit again on that hard chair.


“Do you love him?” he asks sternly.

“Why would I tell you?”

“I will tell you that later why I need to know that but next time you talk to me in that tone, I will cut your throat.”

That’s a serious warning.


“And if my husband finds me dead, he’s going to come after you” I threaten him with an equally raged voice.

“Ahh!! I know that. Of course I know he will come for you and we will come face to face. It’s not what I dreamed of to happen this way. I had other plans from him.. But anyway. Whatever happens, I’ll make sure I kill you before he comes here. And that’s really very simple. All I have to do is put a bullet in your head or pierce a knife on your neck. Or the best, stab your heart. That’s where it will pain the most, isn’t it?”


Damn him!! Every word he utters brings shivers in my body. I want to go away from him.. from here… back to my Devil. But I wont go until I know who he is.. Who the hell is he who could shake my devil’s world.. I was his world.. and this man here shook it.


“Who the hell are you?” I scream again and this time he laughs even more madly and intensely than before.

“I am your doom. How about that?” he answers.


He won’t tell me who he is but that doesn’t mean I wont try finding out and the best way to do this is to coax him.


“Doom? And you?” I chuckle. “You are living in wrong world. No one messes with a Devil’s Queen and you did it. You can’t be anybody’s doom because your doom is close.. Very very close..”


My words prick him but he leans back and keeps staring.


“who’s my doom? Your devil?” he mocks.

“Yes.”

“Oh good” he smiles. “Then you are in a big delusion Khushi. That’s not happening. Devil will never touch me. You know why?”


He gets up from his chair and reaches me. Oh No! I was not prepared for this. He comes closer.. and then whispers in my ears.


“Because no matter what I will never let my son put a bullet on me again. He could do it once, he won’t do it again.”


One minute. Did he say son? What does he mean by that? I recall Buaji telling me that Arnav killed his father by shooting him. And that he was dead. Then who is he? I stare at him in disbelief, my vision clearing up and since he is close, I can finally see him clearly. He looks like Arnav.. a lot lot like him but his older version. They have stark similarities just like a father and son would have. Oh my god. This man here is Devil’s father?


“Yes I am his father. And this is my era…” he stretches his arms … “And here it comes… The rise of the Devil…”


His laugh echoes in my ears, this room and probably the whole of this place. I just can’t believe this is happening for real. Devil’s father is alive and is very much in control of everything in the dark world without Devil’s knowledge. I think he was right. We are really doomed.!!
