Chapter 47

Arnav’s POV

I’d thought Khushi would wear a decent dress after I purposely spilled the coffee on her but now seeing her in a long red gown with a decent neckline but a long slit on her left leg which almost shows off her milky thighs, I can’t contain my surprise. She purposely gives me a cold stare as she gets down the stairs and then joins my parents who are ready to leave for their dinner date.

“You look so gorgeous, sweetheart,” Mom hugs Khushi.

“Thank you, Aunty.”

I am still glaring at Khushi by the time I reach them.

“Let’s go? We are already late,” Khushi says turning to me, so that I don’t make her change the outfit again.

Before my parents I don’t even want to make more fuss than we already have.

“Enjoy the party,” Dad winks.

“And send us your selfies together.” Mom adds.

I don’t know if Khushi is even going to let me stick around her in that party. Khushi says bye to my parents and then we leave for the party of Aatish Ghosh. Mohan drives us whereas we are at the backseat, silent. It’s pricking me. When we were together before, everything seemed perfect. Now it’s like a vacuum which has started to grow with every second passing. I turn to her side. She is looking outside the car window. My hand automatically rests on her thigh, and the moment it does, she shoves it away from her body.

“You have lost the right to touch me, Arnav Singh Raizada..”

Khushi keeps her voice low so that Mohan doesn't listen. I like how she’s still keeping this fight only between us and not involving others. She was always that mature, wasn’t she?

“We never lost the right on each other, clear that misunderstanding from your head,” I mock.

“Misunderstanding?” she snaps. “You talk about getting my substitute, you have ill-spoken to me before Aatish, you tried to get me down from the CEO’s role. That’s no misunderstanding, Arnav. That’s called backstabbing.”

Tears brim in her eyes as she says this so I finally put my walls down and sliding my palm around her nape, I pull her to me.

“I told you my motive is bigger than yours. No one is backstabbing you, Khushi. All I need from you is trust.. I am going to set this right for you… for me… for all of us..”

Khushi stares at me with the same anger simmering in her eyes.

“I know you are doing this for some motive, Arnav. I know it because I trust you will never ditch me or your father. But this is not how you treat me. We are in a relationship. Whatever you do, we both should always be on the same page.”

“Same page?” I mock turning away and then stared back at her again. “Did you tell me about trapping Aatish and his company by agreeing to the deal and take 30% of the deal amount in return? Had you told me that, Khushi, things wouldn’t have gone so south…”

“I did this for us… to save the company..”

“And I am doing this for us too…” I snap, this time a bit louder than even Mohan quickly glances behind from the rearview mirror.

Khushi clenches her jaw.

“Fine. What is your motive then? Mine, let me tell you. I believe the Ghosh Group of company has some bigger plans behind doing this deal. And they are not alone in this. I am very sure, someone else is backing them up to do this deal and I couldn’t trust my sources to find that out. So, I had to get into this ditch myself, Arnav. I faked being on their side so that I find that person who is playing the real game putting the Ghosh at the forefront. I hired private detectives to find the previous deals that we have done with them so far and none of them could trace a thing of these people going against our company, but this time, it feels like a lot many important executives of the AR Group are involved in this and each one of them is getting some commission. Now I really couldn’t bear that some rats working on our payroll are ditching us. So pretending to shake hands with the enemies was my only option to get to the root of this problem. That’s why I am doing this. But you getting involved in it has changed everything. Now you want my position and ..”

“I don’t want your position,” I clarify.

She goes still for a moment.

“Do you even think I am interested to pull you down from the CEO chair so I could take that throne? No effing way, Khushi Gupta. The only time I will pull you below me is when we are making love on bed.. And I know even there you are going to give me a hard time.”

Her face turns red as I suddenly bring this romantic angle to our confrontation.

“Forget making love to me, Arnav. You are not even getting my attention anymore until you tell me clearly why did you get involved in this? And if you don’t want the CEO role then why are you even lying to them?”

That’s where I can’t tell her more.

“You don’t have to know that.. Just trust me.”

She pushes my hand away from her face again when I try to assure her.

“I am the CEO of your company, I deserve to know why you out of all is joining hands with the Ghosh?”

“You just said it’s beyond the Ghosh group, Khushi and that’s all I can tell you right now.”

She is miffed at my constant denial in confronting my reasons. Despite her wriggle, I cup her face in my palms again.

“Just a few days and it will all be okay..”

“What will be okay in few days, Arnav? What are you hiding from me?”

“Something which you shouldn’t be concerned about. Believe me it was equally painful for me to hurt you before Aatish that day in the conference but it was only to gain his trust on me. One wrong move from my end and it could all have gone worse. You have to trust me, Khushi because this is the only way we two can survive the present situation together and come out winning.”

“You are scaring me now, Arnav. Is there any kind of threat looming over our company..”

I don’t say a word.

“Please stop talking in codes. I need the clear reason..” she shouts.

“I can’t tell you that.”

That’s it. She pushes my hands away.

“In that case, stay away from me until you decide to tell me each and every word.”

I am about to rebuke when the car comes a halt as we have reached the party. She gets down first and doesn't even wait for me to enter the event. It’s going to be one hell of a night. I know.

Khushi’s POV

Arnav has some motive. He is clean in terms of not ditching the company. Agreed. But why is he not sharing it with me? I told him everything, why can’t he? What is he hiding?

“Khushi Gupta,” Aatish’s voice breaks my trance. “You look fabulous..”

He is about to hug me when I stop him by my arm.

“A handshake would do.”

He rolls his eyes.

“Even now? You are not with ASR anymore, are you?” he mocks.

Before I can respond, Arnav’s arm slides around me and he pulls me to him giving Aatish a glare.

“We have some unfinished business to complete, Aatish. Until then she is with me before the public.”

I know he is pretending but even that makes me hate him. I shrug his arm away.

“Stop treating me like a thing, I am not yours, and I can handle myself if a man shows any advances. I don’t need you to be alongside me to protect me, Arnav Singh Raizada..”

He grins. Is that grin for Aatish to show he is negative and not in love with me for real? I think so.

“Baby, for now you don’t get to make that decision. Remember, I can still tell Dad and get you out of the company in no time..”

I glare at him. How confidently he speaks all that as if he really means it. Why can’t he tell me the truth? What could it be that he is not willing to share it with me?

“Then go tell your father, I’ll happily walk out of your Company and your home.”

The sudden thought of me leaving AR mansion angers him. But he controls snapping at me as Aatish is enjoying our fight.

“What is this party for?” I ask to Aatish who laughs heartily.

“I never needed a reason to throw a party but this one here has all my friends and close associates. And by the way, did I mention it’s a masquerade party?”

He quickly waves at the server who is passing eye masks to everyone. The room is already dark enough and wearing this mask, we would hardly recognize one another. Khushi wears the sexiest of the ladies’ mask whereas I pick a random one and wear it. Someone calls Aatish so he excuses us. Khushi too tries to walk away when I grab her hand and lean closer to whisper.

“I don’t get a good vibe here. Just be careful whom you meet and stick around me.”

Despite the mask I don’t miss to realize she is frowning back.

“Please baby, for me. Don’t stay away my sight.”

“You amuse me..” Khushi mutters. “How can you even change from being a cold-hearted business minded power thriving tycoon to a soft protective lover in a fraction of second?”

“I am good at many things,” I smile knowing she is slowly letting her defenses down.

“Smoking is a good thing for you?”

Oh god!

“Why are you stuck at that smoking part?” I scowl. “I don’t smoke regularly. Just when I am totally doomed.”

“How very sensible of you, Arnav?? If I ever see you smoking again, or even know you are smoking at my back, I am going to cut your lungs myself.”

“What?” I snarl.

“I am serious.”

And giving me that threat she leaves. Ohh god! Seems like I’ll have to take her warning seriously. I can lose my lungs, not her. Keeping my eyes on every guest I make sure to be around Khushi.

Khushi’s POV

I meet many people and they know me mostly except a few who seem more than interested to have my number which I politely deny and ask them if they have business to do, they can take appointment with my secretary at AR Group. That keeps those men at bay. Arnav is around, I can see him but he doesn't make contact with me again and maintains the coldness between us.

The music turns soothing and people take their partners on dance floor. I turn to Arnav who is about to reach me when another man comes between us.

“May I dance with you, dear?”

He is a bit old but his smile is friendly so I don’t deny. And most importantly I want Arnav to see I am least interested in talking to him if he is not ready to share his secret with me. Plus he has hurt me. Fake or not, I took it all for real. The pain, backstabbing feeling was real and though I am relieved he is on my side, I still want to keep some distance from him. I begin to dance with the elderly man and then as the music changes, our partners change and I am dancing with another man. Everyone is wearing eye mask so we have no idea whom we are dancing with but the moment the partners change again, and my hands brush the arms of the man about to dance with me, we both stiffen. I have known this touch..

As if he doesn't want to reveal his identity to me, he walks away from the dance floor. What the hell!! I follow him making sure he doesn't realize it. The man walks till the exit and the moment I reach there, he is gone. Like gone, gone!! Who was he? I felt like I have known him.. his touch.. Damn!! Something pricks my heels and I bend down to pick that shiny thing which looks like a blue color bracelet. It probably fell down from his wrist when this man hurried out. The moment I see it, my eyes widen in shock. This bracelet belongs to none other than Shyam Jha.!! What was he doing here? And how does he know the Ghosh? Just few minutes back Aatish told us that only his friends and close associates are in invited in this party. Then what was Shyam doing here? I have to find out!!

  3. Arnav is completely smitten by Khushi. Arnav parents are also cool. Poor Arnav is missing Arshi 's togetherness. Arnav told about his motive and asked for Khushi's trust. Arnav probably want to expose Aatish and Shyam. Both Arshi are getting hurt but both are doing this for saving the company. Khushi too want the same thing. Knew Arnav won't go after power ever. Finally the romantic Arnav is back and showing possessiveness for Khushi. Shyam and Aatish both are enemies of Arshi and Arnav is on the right track but he is hurting Khushi and how he wins her back will be interesting 😘

  4. Arnav is asking for trust from khushi when he himself didn't trust her.
Yes, khushi 'hide' but she didn't include you or hurt you for her 'hiding'. It was professional and one can't recite every single piece to her/his partner in the name of transparency and not hiding.
Arnav hiding and not telling the main point is ok. He can be secretive of some agendas just like khushi did, only professionally though. He isn't wrong to keep some thing to himself just for the sake of the company and khushi's security and safety. But he included khushi and his personal relationship in his agenda and there he went wrong.
Khushi should and can forgive arnav for not telling the motive but not the actions, behavior and words he used.

    1. Your reason would make perfect sense if Arnav and Khushi werent also linked so closely professionally. If she was in another company where her decisions wouldn't impact him then yes. But when he and his father and their company are involved, she did owe him an explanation, specially when there was no reason or benefit for hiding.

Coming to Arnav not disclosing his motives, aren't we all a bit quick to judge. She was the one who disrespected her reationship with Arnav saying that who knows whether it will last but she needs to secure her future. She acted in front of Aatish to gain his trust and so did Arnav. He clarified it in front of Khushi but she is pissed because he is not confiding in her,

If tables were revered and Khushi was the one who asked Arnav to give her some time and trust her without proof and he didnt, then everyone would be taunting him and his love. But Khushi is allowed to do so cause she is Khushi

  8. I understand that like Khushi, Arnav is too protecting the company and Khushi. He said it pained me when I said nonsense in front of Aatish. But he telling her that he will get her susbtitute, literally splashing coffee on her face and added mocking was done in private. How does he justify that bad behavior?🙄 I hope Madhu you consider these points and not let Arnav get away with it. This is not how one much in love partner behaves. And a strong girl like Khushi will also not take it.

  9. I knew Shyam is involved in this process and Aranv is doing this only to protect her from shyam and his dad.
I loved their bickering and when Khushi said I would cut your lungs myself I laughed so hard I wasn't expecting this kind of an answer but I guess I should have because that's what khushi is and I'm so in love with this
Loved it as always 💕 💕💕

Should i be feeling happy that, as expected, arnav was acting or disappointed that again he is shown to be "The", the most powerful, intelligent, 10 steps ahead and know it all businessman, while it should have been khushi, she has again been unaware and ignorant of the big dirty fish in the pond.
