Chapter 32A
Khushi’s POV
Arnav and I are seated opposite to each other over the 12-seater dining table and the temperature in the room has suddenly raised. My appetite is zero though Maa has helped me serve some veggies in my plate. She tried to serve Arnav too but he denied having much. In a black shirt, Arnav has always looked adorable but today seeing him after so many months, I can’t help my eyes stop drooling at him. I know when I was making a small talk to Maa who is seated next to me, Arnav had his eyes on me too and was admiring me the same way. It’s like we are just waiting for our respective moments to steal glances of each other. I am about to pick the mayonnaise bottle when Arnav holds it too. Our fingers grip the bottle together. A spark flares as our eyes meet. His touch is cold yet this one touch is enough to burn us both. Arnav is the first one to withdraw his hand and pick the other sauces instead.
“So, Arnav?” one of Anjali’s doctor friends continues the conversation which we both had no idea of, so far. We were lost in our own little world trying to learn the state of the other as we are meeting after too long. “How many days are you here this time?”
He becomes super alert as he responds to her.
“A week.”
A week? That’s it? And then he is flying back? So early? I feel a pang in my heart as I continue to eat quietly.
The dinner is over and everyone is still busy chatting with each other in the living room. Arnav is missing. Where did he go? I glance at the balcony and find him standing out, with a glass of scotch in his hand. He has so far tried his best to keep this distance between us but I know he is finding it way hard to do so. I don’t know why but I can’t stop myself from intruding in his personal space there. The moment I step out in the balcony, Arnav’s grip on the glass tightens. Though his back is facing me, he can still sense my presence. What is this strange feeling we have for each other?
“You are really leaving after a week?” I ask, keeping my tone neutral.
He doesn't turn around and sips his scotch again.
“I can leave early if that’s what you are here to tell me.”
My fingers fist in anger. He thinks I want him to leave early? I think he does. But I still keep it cool and reply honestly.
“I don’t mind if you stay here forever, Arnav.”
Now he turns back and meets my eyes.
“You will mind it, Khushi. You definitely will. Because if I stay here, I’ll keep stalking you.”
I swallow nervously but without breaking the eye lock between us.
“Why do you stalk me?”
“To have my fill of you,” he shamelessly admits, finishing his scotch in one hard gulp.
Though my heart is beating loudly at his reply, I keep this conversation on. I don’t know why but I want us to talk.
“How are you, Arnav?”
“How do I look?” He gives me a sarcastic smile to my silence. “You?” he shoots that same question to me and I reply him back in a similar way.
“How do you think I am?”
“Happy,” he instantly replies. “I hope.”
I take a deep breath.
“What makes you think I am happy?” I stand at the railing of the balcony, overlooking at the city sprawled before us.
“You are finally getting everything you want in your life. That’s why.” He replies standing next to me, overlooking the city like I am. “Growth in your career, financial independence and freedom from our forced marriage.”
There is a complete silence between us for a long minute before he continues.
“I heard you had been out on a date too.”
He knows? How? He stalked my life? I don’t know. I don’t want to ask. The point is he is not angry asking me this. He is hurt.
“I had,” I nod. “His name is Rajeev. NK and Pam set me up.”
He doesn't say a word, just stares blankly at the sky now.
“I ran away from him.” I add, hoping he feels better. Now he looks at me. I meet his curious eyes too. “Don’t ask me why. I don’t have the reply to that yet.”
Arnav gulps again, painfully.
“Maybe you are guilty that we are still married. That’s why you ran away. Once we are legally divorced, it won’t be the same.”
His reply is genuine, but he is so hurt. Damn! Why the hell can I feel his pain?
“What about you? Still holding to that resolve of not wanting any other woman in your life or has that changed?”
I am so desperate to know his reply to this. Arnav smirks this time before nodding.
“Have ruined a woman’s life already, don’t want to ruin another woman’s by making her my wife.”
I smile as if his reply gives me some hope? What hope? I don’t know but I smile.
“Do you realize this is the first time we are talking so nicely without me being forced to do so or you demanding me to spend time with you?” I ask.
“Yeah.” He smiles too. “And I f*cking like it when we talk.”
Me too!! I don’t say that aloud but yes, I am liking this soft and honest heart-to-heart talk.

I don't think you should update such micro-mini updates. Take 5-7 days time and give us a proper update.
ReplyDeleteTake it as a precap and appreciate something rather than nothing.. I'm glad u update even if it's a small part. Waiting for week gets really hard. Better something short in between rather than nothing
DeleteWhy take it as a precap when it's being presented as an update?. Why accept any scrap?. Waiting for a week is better than getting a laughable tiny piece daily
DeleteI think she should start updating a paragraph everyday. You might die of happiness if miniscules bring you this much solace
DeleteWhat’s wrong with you? Whatever madu does you guys have a problem. If she updates you guys keep complaining it’s short. If she didn’t update then again start to blame her. Seriously get a grip!
DeleteAwesome Update. Khushi is admiring Arnav and drooling over him. Arnav is also doing the same thing. Both love each other. Arshi moments are too cute. Both have the same feelings and love between them. Khushi don't want Arnav to go back and is hurt. She understands his Arnav and his pain too. Khushi got angry when Arnav told about leaving. Khushi cares for Arnav. Khushi smile when Arnav said that he don't want to ruin another woman's life and has hopes from this relationship. . Arshi's conversation was really great. Hope they keep conversing in this way. And Arnav also reveal about Shashi Gupta. Hopefully Arshi's relationship will be back to normal some day. Thanks for the Update😍

ReplyDeleteAww now that's called some we moments or arshi moments with some heart to heart talk
ReplyDeleteLovely update. Finally both of them had a talk. Hope this will grow.
ReplyDeleteHope they realize what's missing in there life and start over again . It's really painful to see them struggling.
ReplyDeletemadhu i like your writing style since there is no concept of love at first sight in most of your stories because in real life loves never happens in a day or moment ..so your story connect with us because you develop each character slowly , please keep writing ....
ReplyDeleteThanks I will keep writing :)
DeleteThanks so much.
ReplyDeleteLove your way of writing Madhu.. looking forward to read Khushi understanding what she is missing . Love the way you handle Arnav who is regretting every moment and that regret holding him back. Awesome update .
ReplyDeleteOk so my ques is y is it only khushi who gets to decide wether she wants to continue this relationship or not. Aren’t relationships a two way thing. I think she’s taken Arnav for granted and also Arnav has nooo self respect
ReplyDeleteIt's on two people in a relationship to decide who get a say in their relationship. Its totally their choice to give the reins of their relationship to hands of either one of them or both. And if arnav is waiting or wants khushi to initiate the first step of their reunion than its his choice. He had messed it up so only he had to wait, why would he gets to decide the fate of the relationship which he had wronged? It would be obviously khushi's right to chose.
DeleteIf khushi wants to talk they’ll talk the relationship should move forward according to her mood swings ?? Really that’s unacceptable for a person like me for whom respects plays a major role in any relationship also what abt equality
ReplyDeleteFrom where does equality come from? And who said Khushi is the decision maker of their relationship? And I think they had already decided about the relationship and that's why they had applied for divorce, isn't? And obviously if they want to worked it out they will do according to them only. Like if either of them wants to worked it out he or she needs to talked it out according to him or her only, isn't? If I want to make my on the verge of breaking relationship to not break and work again so only I would need to talk about it not wait for the other person to initiate something which only I know.
DeleteP.S. I didn't read anything like khushi demanding/ordering to arnav to talk about their so called relationship anywhere in the update.
Awesome written ❤️….., amo
ReplyDeleteArshi starts to talk normally. And both are openly talking about their feelings without hiding anything. Hope this small talk will bring some good change in them.
ReplyDeleteWaiting for the next update dear.....
Wonderful update
ReplyDeleteThe therapy is showing its progressive effect in here isn't! Thats just it. We, humans, just want to be listened patiently and without being judged and everything seems ok.
