Chapter 58

Vicky stumbles with Khushi on a wooden table behind but that doesn’t loosen his grip on Khushi’s neck. She is being badly strangled. Vicky grabs the sharp knife from that table and points it on Khushi’s neck.
“Don’t lie to me Raizada. Shagufta is on my side. Not yours” he scoffs back to Arnav who is striding cautiously ahead towards him and Khushi.
“She has been arrested today morning and she has confessed it. You want to hear her confession?” Arnav snaps.



Khushi’s heart pounds. She has no clue who Mira is? Why Vicky thinks she misinformed Mira about him which broke his engagement? And where does Shagufta come in the picture if she did everything on her behalf? How did she get to know her and Vicky’s college enmity? What’s happening?

“Leave her Vicky, she has nothing to do with your broken relationship” Arnav threatens him again. It is hard to threaten someone when he himself is nervous and unable to predict the next actions Vicky can take, especially when Khushi is still in his custody. He doesn’t want Vicky to hurt her beyond this. The knife Vicky is holding in the attempt to escape the place and the police, using Khushi as his bait has almost pierced her skin on her shoulder.

“I will kill her.. don’t come near me” Vicky shouts while moving towards the backdoor.
“You won’t be able to run away Vicky and I suggest this is the last opportunity you have to be good in Mira’s eyes again. There is still hope she can come back to you”
“Shut up…” Vicky groans. “Don’t take her name from your mouth”
“Mira is here Vicky, I called her here. If you want Mira, leave my Khushi”

Vicky panics and stops moving back. Khushi keeps struggling. The pain of the cut on her shoulder, intensifies.
“You… You are lying. Mira cannot come here” his grip on the knife loosens.
“She is out.. .waiting to come in on our orders. I am sure you don’t want her to see you like this..” Arnav keeps persuading him to drop the knife and free Khushi.
“Mira.. mira is here?” Vicky panics.
Khushi looks at her husband whose eyes is just on her and she can read his frail gestures. She knows what he wants her to do, now that Vicky is not totally concentrating on her. She bites sharply on Vicky’s hand, making him lose the knife. The moment the knife falls, one of the Police man shoots Vicky’s feet. He collapses on the floor while Khushi rushes in her husband’s arms, safe.

“Mira.. Mira.” Vicky keeps yelling as the cops handcuffs him, the medic team enters to take care of Khushi’s injuries.
“Arnav…”
“Sshhh. You are safe..” he showers kisses all over her face and pulls her closer. He was horrified since she got abducted, a feeling which he never wishes to face again.
“Lava,.. lavanya.. he… he has kidnapped her too..” Khushi keeps crying, struggling to do something about it. “Save her.. .Arnav… we got to save her too.. I..”
“She is safe. Lavanya is safe Khushi. Aman has taken care of her.. She is fine. Nothing happened to her.”

Only when she gets that assurance from her husband, which she knows has to be the truth, her eyes shut and she collapses in his arms.

“Khushi..? Khushi?” He pats her cheek. He carries her in his arms and hurries out to the ambulance, followed by the medic team, to take her at the hospital.

Hospital 

Arnav strolls madly before the Post-operative observation room. Khushi needed some stitches on her shoulder. He is thankful that the injury is not deep but just a flesh wound, otherwise it would have affected her bone. He does not wish to imagine what would have happened to her had he not reached with the police in time.

“Chotte?” Anjali and Shyam rushes to him. “How is Khushi? Is she fine now?”

Arnav had kept his emotions leashed so far but as soon as Anjali and Shyam comes there, he cannot hold them longer. He hugs his sister tight. She hugs him back. Words fail as she measures the fear, he must have gone through the past few hours. Khushi is Arnav’s greatest strength now and weakness too. Anything affecting her breaks him down. Shyam pats Arnav’s back.

“Saale Sahab. You saved her. And she is fine now, isn’t she? That’s all that matters.”

Arnav breaks the hug; he didn’t realize when his eyes went moist. He cannot fall weak now.
“Why did you leave the house? I told you not to step out until this is over” he shouts at them.
“We have guards with us and also many of them taking care of Nani, Shikha and Ruhi. You don’t have to worry about all that now. That psyche is arrested” Shyam replies.
“I cannot believe Shagufta could do all this” Anjali mutters. “It was all her conspiracy and for what? For breaking you and Khushi apart? How could she stoop so low? I want her to face strict punishment for all the harm she has done to us, Chotte.”

Arnav nods. The doctors come out from the observation room.

“Your wife is doing fine now, Mr. Raizada. The injury will heal in time. She is still unconscious because of the sedatives we had to give her.”
“Can I see her?”
“Yes. Why not?”
“Thank you”

Arnav strides inside the room. Khushi is sleeping on the hospital bed, with few instruments around monitoring her vitals. Apart from a bottle of blood and a glucose there is nothing else injected in her body. There is a big white bandage on her right shoulder where the stitches had to be given. It is hard to see her so pale and in pain. He sits next to her, holding her hand gently in his.

“I am sorry Baby, I couldn’t keep my words. I am sorry” he kisses her fingers. He cannot wait to hear her voice. The next few hours until she wakes up are going to be tough.

Khushi woke up with the sun. The pain on her shoulder doesn’t allow her sleep some more. It’s badly aching and she tries to comprehend why? Her eyes try to focus and see the surrounding. Where is she? Their penthouse? Shikha’s apartment or Di’s? No, it’s not a house but a hospital. She has seen this logo of the Hospital before while she crossed the regular lane of her office. The memories of the past events gush in her mind. Her near to death escape from Vicky’s torture makes her shiver again.

“Khushi..” Arnav quickly sits on the bed, holding her arms as gently as possible but gripped hard enough to soothe her shivering. “Baby… its okay.. you are fine now.. I am here.”
When she sees her husband again, she calms down. He saved her from Vicky, she knew he would. Her shoulder aches again and she tries to tell him about it.
“I know. You have got 2 stitches there. It will take some time to heal” he informs.

Her jaw hardens, the pain is worse. Arnav presses the call button and the nurse rushes in, followed by two doctors who check Khushi’s vitals again and give her the next dose of medicine to subside the pain.

After another round of sleep, when she wakes up in few hours, she sees Arnav and Anjali talking in the room.

“Chotte.. you havnt eaten anything since last night. You will fall weak and then how will you look after your wife? I don’t know anything. Just go home and get some rest. Me and Shyam will be here to wait with Khushi”

Khushi swallows her dry throat. She is thirsty. When she raises her arm to grab the bottle of water at the bedside table, Arnav notices her awake and rushes to her.
“You want water? Hold on”

He pours some water in the glass and then gently raises Khushi’s head, making her drink it slowly, at her pace. When she sips some, she finally is able to speak again.

“Go home” she murmurs. “Rest” she adds.

Arnav keeps the glass of water aside and sits next to her.
“We will go home together. I am not leaving you here”
Anjali caresses Khushi’s head.
“Khushi.. how are you feeling now?”
Khushi puts a faint smile on her lips.
“Fine”
Khushi gently rubs her palm on Arnav’s hand.
“Go.” She requests him again.
“I said I won’t leave you. Don’t push me on this, please. I will call the Doctor. Let them check you again”

He gets up and walks out of the room. Anjali sits next to her.
“He won’t listen, Khushi. So, you don’t waste your time either. The doctor says they will send you back home tomorrow and everything else can be taken care from home.”

Arnav comes back with the doctors. They diagnose her again and changes the bandage on her shoulder. All this while she keeps holding Arnav’s hand because that’s the only way, she could forget her pain.
