Daadi didn’t intervene until I finished. I could sense she either didn’t like my proposal or she had other plans for the land. I had put forth my point and I somehow felt she wouldn’t deny me.
“I see” she smiled at me. “So that’s why you came here after all these years?”
I feel the prick in my heart. I immediately clutch her hand in mine.
“No Daadi. That might have been one of the reasons for me coming here, but I also wanted to see you. Ask Dad. He knows. I got so busy all these years that I couldn’t fetch time to come and see you”
She smiled at me again making me even more embarrassed.
“I always wanted to see you rise and shine in your life Arnav. You have made me proud even if it meant not seeing you for 9 years”
I don’t say a word. She takes a deep breath and becomes serious.
“I am sorry. Devki Estate no more belongs to me”
I frown. Is this some kind of joke?
“What do you mean it no more belongs to you? After Daadu you inherited that property, didn’t you?”
“Yes, that’s right. And just last year I transferred it to someone else”

ReplyDeleteMay be the estate is earned by grandfather by his own and not inherited . As it's not an ancestral, grand mother can give it to anyone she wishes to. Or khushi may belong to their family...
