Hari Prakash frowns at me for delaying Devil’s orders and what surprises me is that he doesn’t mind telling me that.
“You cannot disobey him” he commands.
What the hell? Why are everyone treating ME like a guest whereas that Devil like the owner of this place?
“Well I just did..” I snap. “Now go and complain him, I don’t care”
Buaji stares at me bewildered. Hari Prakash leaves and I glance at Buaji again.
“You shouldn’t have done that”
“Seriously Buaji? Even you are siding them and not me?”
“Why is Arnav teaching you to shoot? How did he even agree? Did you force him or dad to do this? Sankadevi, how many times should I ask you to stay away from that man?”
I have never seen Buaji so angry on me. I quickly clutch her arms.
“Buaji, relax. I know he is THE DEVIL for you all but I am not afraid of him. I have the guts to face his brutality. You don’t have to fear for me. I can take care of myself”
“You don’t understand” she snaps. “If the enemies see you with him, trying to build relationships, the first person they will pull the trigger on, will be YOU”
It sounds scary. So, Devil has more enemies than my father? How is that possible?
She crossed her legs below the table. Her loose palazzo pants never felt so uncomfortable as they do now. She is nervous. The weekend couldn’t be worse than this. She drove all the way from Pune to Mumbai last night thinking her parents have an emergency, only to find out later that they wanted her to come home for a day at least and meet the boy they had chosen for her through a matrimonial site. The whole idea of creating her profile on a matrimonial website seemed absurd, but she didn’t want to hurt her parents’ sentiments. She has saved enough money for her wedding during the last 5 years of working in an IT company in Pune. They wanted her to be married before her father’s retirement. It is the most illogical thing she had heard but again, denying her parent’s wish is the last thing she would want.
So, here she is, waiting for that man to show up. There are more surprises in store for her. She doesn’t know how he looks, forget looks, she doesn’t even know his name. It’s more of a blind date for her and the entire stupid idea was her little sister, Aditi’s, who is 18 and is bubbling with all the fuzzy philosophies of romance and blind dates. She sits there hoping for her sister to grow up soon and understand that the reality is way different from her imagination.
Back at home, everyone in her family has seen this boy’s photo, and they seem to love him already. Her mother thinks that he looks like some Bollywood actor, and according to her sister he is a “cool dude”, a prince charming. She has no more clues about the man other than this crazy description by her mother and sister.
It was decided that they would meet in this coffee shop at 05:00 p.m. sharp and now it’s 05:15 p.m. She hates latecomers. Even at work, she doesn’t like her team members who are late. Where is he? Or has he changed his mind? Not that she minds. She can stay single for a few more months of her life. Love affairs and breakups have become too commonplace in today’s age. Though the idea of an arranged marriage displeases her, it might work for her somehow as she has no time to find a match for herself, feel attracted towards him, date him for some time and then decide if they should take their relationship to their parents for the final seal.
She looks at her watch again. It’s 05:20. If he doesn’t show up in next 10 minutes, she decides she will leave.
“Excuse me?” comes a voice. It must be the server to take her order, she assumes as she looks through the contents of her purse.
“No, I don’t want to order anything yet” she shrugs, without even looking at him once.
She continues to look for something in her purse. Did she keep her car keys back in the purse after parking it? She doesn’t remember. Whenever she is nervous, she forgets a lot of things.
“Khushi?” the same voice continues to speak to her but this time taking her name.
How does the server know her name?
She raises her gaze from her purse to look at him. He is a tall, alpha-fit personality with features no less than perfect. He could make any woman go weak in her knees just by his gaze. While she looks at him dumbfounded, he stretches his arm towards her.
“I am Arnav, the one you are here to meet,” he introduces with an easy smile.
I am liking this Khushi so much . Her fearless attitude is nice. But Khushi can't keep distance from Arnav. So Arnav also has enemies like Shashi Gupta so buaji wants her to stay away. Waiting to know more about Arnav. Nice Precap.
