Chapter 50


Everything was changing rapidly around Khushi. Anjali’s wedding rituals had begun and Khushi was fully engrossed in the preparations. Arnav and Ayush supported her in every way and they decided to host all the rituals in Shantivan. Khushi even helped Anjali in her shopping. They were slowly bonding with each other again without pushing their limits. Aarav accompanied them too at times and was way too excited for the wedding of his Bua. It was one such day when they were all engrossed in the preps and back home, enjoying their late evening tea.


“Now I realize what a daughter’s wedding means” Ayush remarked. “During Arnav’s wedding I was hardly this busy. Everything was left on the servants but this time I am personally looking at everything”

Shashi laughed. 

“Now you realize how I felt when I bid bye to my daughter during her Bidaai”


Khushi quickly placed the tray before the table and started serving Tea/coffees to them.

“Thank you Beta” Ayush blessed her and their talks continued.

“Where is Anjali?” Shashi curiously asked.

“She is on call”

“With Shyam I guess” Ayush mocked.

“Nope. Shyam is busy in a surgery” Khushi replied.

“Then who is she talking to from past half an hour?”

“She is talking to her mother-in-law”

“What?” Ayush and Shashi both asked at the same time. Khushi chuckled at their surprised expressions.

“She is talking to Shanti?”

“Yes Paapa” Khushi confirmed. “They are bonding well these days. Seems Aunty has also booked their tickets for honeymoon. She is taking all the initiatives to give her son and daughter-in-law a happy environment. Seems, she has also changed the décor of Shyam’s room based on Anjali’s likes”

“That’s great” Ayush was pleased. “And who told you all this? Anju?”

“Obviously” Khushi nodded.

“Oh. Then its not just Shanti and Anju’s relationship changing. You two are also bonding together and that’s impressive”


Khushi glanced at her husband who was still busy on his laptop. Though he wasn’t an active participant in this conversation, he was still mentally attentive.


“Shashi, What a daughter you have, seriously” Ayush praised. “Ever since she has returned in our lives, we are blessed with peace, prosperity and happiness”

Khushi shied and turned to her husband again who was still typing. Now she was getting annoyed. Though she knew he was equally thankful that she had changed so much and she didn’t need his words to confirm that, but he could at least glance at her.


Arnav kept typing on his laptop. His work had seriously hampered from quite some time. First, because of his sudden Auckland trip and now Anjali’s wedding preps. But he was managing things from home. He sipped his coffee, finally giving a thorough glance at his wife who was again in a Red Saree today. She was wearing Sarees quite often these days and he wondered if it was to lure him. She didn’t have to make so much efforts. He was already seduced and totally into this woman for lifetime and the next 6 births to come.


“I will get some snacks” Khushi said frowning at her husband and then walked back in the kitchen.


Ayush and Shashi muffled their laughs. They could easily guess what was happening. Khushi needed her husband’s attention while he was so busy working.

“I will be right back” Arnav said putting his laptop away and none of the two said anything.


When Arnav reached the kitchen, Khushi was rubbing her neck. She had a mild neck sprain from few hours and the medicines she took didn’t work. He reached her and placed a warm kiss on her nape, exactly where she was rubbing her fingers.


“Should I help?” he whispered.

“No thanks” She stepped away to serve some snacks in the plate. “You need anything?”

“Hmm” He closed the distance between them and cuddled her from behind, placing his chin over her shoulder blade. “you”

For a second Khushi almost believed it but then she frowned again and shoved him off.

“What a lie”


Arnav was confused by her behavior.


“You are busy working. You don’t need me”


Arnav rolled his eyes. He knew that was true partially. He was so busy last three days that he worked till late even from home. By the time he ended up in the bedroom, Khushi would be fast asleep. She would still wake him up with kisses on his chest and body at night, but Arnav would pull her close and snuggle her, murmuring he had early morning calls to make which meant they couldn’t afford to miss their sleep that moment and hence .. no love making that night. Khushi was annoyed by this distance between them.


“Khushi you know how I am struggling to handle work from home” he argued.

“Then go to Office. Who asked you to be home? Me, Paapa, Anjali and Dad can handle things without you”

Arnav decided to remain quiet and let her blabber. She finished arranging the snacks in the tray but she had more to tell him, so she continued the conversation.

“Every man is like that. They run behind their wives at first and when they get what they want, everything suddenly becomes very mechanical for them. You are joining that list Mr. Raizada. You don’t want to love your wife anymore. You forgot all those vows which we took in Auckland. How very mean of you! Tum bhi jhoote aur tumhara pyaar bhi (You are a liar and your love is a lie too)”


That’s it. The moment she said this, Arnav hauled her to his body and cupped her nape.

“Don’t you ever say that again to me” He scolded. “I am not going to give you any proofs of my love and don’t you ever dare to ask me that again”

Khushi realized she went a bit far this time.

“I am sorry” she mumbled. “I know you are busy and so am I.. We both are too stressed and I am losing it. And this neck.. Ouchh” she tried to stretch it but couldn’t.. “It’s giving me a hard time. I am sorry I vent it all on you”

“It’s my fault too” His tone was apologetic. “I should have given some time to you. Trust me, I wanted to but then my work just ruined everything.”

“Hmm” Khushi sighed. “So, what now?”

“I don’t know. You tell me”

“I will go serve these snacks to everyone and you continue your work on laptop” Khushi muttered not so happy about this plan.

“I have a better idea”

He didn’t tell her what the idea is and quickly dragged Khushi out with the tray of snacks. She served Ayush, Shashi and Aarav and then waited for her husband to lead her.

“We will be right back” he said holding her hand. “Khushi has a neck sprain. I will give her the medicine. She needs rest”

“You are right” Ayush replied. “She needs lots of rest. I suggest, you both do. Go and take some rest”

“Thanks Dad”

Arnav dragged Khushi to the stairs. Anjali was just coming down but she didn’t have to know where they were going and why. She just smiled at the two and made her way down where their fathers were gossiping. Arnav was thankful his sister didn’t poke them much. As soon he and Khushi ended up in the bedroom, he carried her in arms and placed her on the bed. Khushi didn’t speak a word. She wanted to see what he intended to do. He walked to the closet and took out a small bottle of oil. Khushi sat on the bed, waiting for him. As soon as she saw the oil, she realized he was going to give her a neck massage. She readily tied her hair into a bun, to give him all the access he needed and then turned her back to him. Arnav pressed another heated kiss on her neck before pouring the oil in his palms and rubbed it gently on her neck. The feeling was bliss.

“Is this pressure enough?” he asked.

“It’s perfect” Khushi moaned when he kissed her earlobe, while his fingers worked magic on her neck. She could hardly feel the pain. It was just him and is fingers all over her body.

In no time, she got that love back, which she missed from the past few days. Arnav made love to her in the gentlest way possible, taking care of her neck too and making sure she doesn’t hurt it more. After love making and a quick nap of few minutes, Khushi woke up and was glad Arnav hadn’t left her. He was still sleeping next to her with his nose nuzzled between the crook of her neck.

“Feeling good?”

“In heaven” Khushi whispered. “My neck is fine too. Your fingers have magic in them”

“A lot of women have told me that before” he teased.

Khushi hit his chest softly and cuddled closer.


“We still have to decide a gift for Anjali”

Arnav had almost forgot that. He thanked his stars that he had a wife who took care of everything. They discussed the options. Arnav knew his Di very well so he had better choices to make. They decided to shop together tomorrow and buy something for Anjali. Things were taking a different turn now and they were accommodating the new changes with open heart.
