Chapter 44


Arnav’s POV


The look on Swetlana’s face as I warn her not to disrespect my queen, is not something I had seen before. I know Swetlana from years, all thanks to my father’s constant meetings where he had started to take me along, even though I was not even in my teenage. He wanted me to learn, adapt and do things to continue his legacy. It was then that I realized apart from being a good father to me and a husband to my mother, he was more. And I hated that more because it was cruel on my part to see him smuggling guns and drugs to bad people. I had told Maa and then denied going out with him. Sure my mother had no idea about the other side of the man she loved and married to but when she did, she made all attempts to break whatever they had between them and take me away from his world. But it never happened. Dad locked us up and though he never harmed us, I knew he loved us too much to let us go from his life. Now I know it wasn’t just love, he was also scared his enemies might hunt us down and kill us, end his legacy.

“Gujrals had hidden Jaipal.”


Swetlana’s remark breaks my trance. I realize why I am here. She called me here because she knows something about Jaipal’s death.

“Can’t be. I have raided all their hideouts. Jaipal wasn’t there.”

“That’s because they didn’t hide him in one of their hideouts, Devil” she laughs.


The liquor has made her tipsy. Her tongue is heavy and words from her mouth are hardly clear. But I ignore all that and focus on the info.


“Where were they hiding him then?”

She laughs again.

“I can’t tell you.. No..” she cries suddenly, again the effect of the drink. I grab her arms and shook her.

“Where were they hiding him Swetlana? Whose den? Tell me..”

“Promise me you won’t hurt him..” she pouts..

Now I stiffen.


“You know I can’t promise that.”

She widens her eyes at my declaration and gulps the rest of her drink in one go.

“I .. I have to go.”

Swetlana gets down the chair but that’s not easy for me to let her go. So I block her way out.

“You give me the answers I need, I let you go.”


Initially she looks threatened but then she smiles.

“I told you more than enough. I can’t tell you beyond this Devil or else there will be harsh consequences and I am not ready for that.”


Harsh consequences? From whom? Who is shutting her mouth? Her father? She tries to leave again but this time I grab her arm.

“Who is behind Jaipal’s death?” I ask, with rage simmering in my tone and expressions.

“You are a fool to think I will tell you that. I just wanted to give you hints. I can’t tell you the whole story and gift death to myself. I am not that crazy devil.”


Death? Who will kill her? If it’s Rana Pratap, he will never hurt his daughter. Gujrals? But they don’t have that power to even touch Rana Pratap’s daughter and even if they do, I am assured they won’t bring that enmity upon themselves. Swetlana’s eyes throw a scary look behind me and then she meets my gaze, sharp and fast.


“You should leave and let me go or else you are risking both of our lives.”


Before I can assimilate why she said that we hear a gunshot. I bow down taking Swetlana along and rush to the bar counter where we can hide. More gunshots.


“I told you,” she screams amidst this. “You should have let me go..”

“Shut up”


I don’t have much time to think or hear her tantrums. “Stay low.. You will be safe.”

I lean back to check on my men.. my army who are here and I see them cross firing. Taking out the gun from my back pocket, I give one final stare to Swetlana before leaning from the safest point and firing back at the door of the club. One man down!! Don’t know how many more to go!!


“who are they?” I ask her, in between firing at the others.

“I don’t know..” she chews her teeth. The gunshots don’t scare her but seeing death so close, she’s literally gone for a toss.

“You know it Swetlana.. Don’t lie.. Who the hell are these men and why are they firing at us?” I scowl back when she tries to move away from me.

“Whoever they are, all they care is our death now. You better be good to end them or else…”


Another gunshot hits closer to our table scaring Swetlana. I tuck her down and then fire back. I don’t think I can aim well from this spot. I need a better one.

“Stay here.. Don’t move.”


She nods at my command and I watch my man at the other spot. He’s hiding behind a pillar and nods at my gestures. I want him to cover me. The moment I run for a better angle, bullets are fired at my direction but my men cover me up firing back at them. One more dead! How many more? Goddammit!! A bulky guy comes out of nowhere to hit me. I kick his abdomen, grip his neck tight and then smash his head on the wall. He falls down. Not dead!! But unconscious.


“Who the hell are they?” I ask one of my men who’s hiding under a table, aiming for his shots on their feet.

“Gujrals for sure.. Saw their famous tattoo” he shouts back and the moment he finishes, a bullet pierces through his arm. Damn hell!!! Though its just a flesh wound, I hate my men falling down. He slides the bigger gun in my direction and I roll on the floor to grab it and then shoot back. Three men down!! Take them you Bast****

Another minute of gunshots and then someone kicks me behind. I hold myself from falling and with one signature move grab the knife from the table and slice a clean cut on his throat, killing him once for all. Three more minutes and we are safe again. My men surround the place, help the locals to exit the club and I return to the table where I had left Swetlana. She’s not here. But there is no sign of her dead in the club which means she managed to sneak out.


“Boss” one of my men crowds me. “we have another situation. The Queen’s taken.”

“WHAT?” I yell back. “what did you just say?”

“The queen. Your wife… She’s taken. Someone barged in the Prime Safe house and.. took her..”


DAMN HELL!! My lungs burn as I suck down air fighting the urge to hurt myself. Khushi’s taken? By whom? How the F*** can someone just enter my safest den and abduct her when I have a whole effing military there to protect my wife? It’s not done!! My phone rings and I don’t want to ignore any call which can lead me to her.


“Hello young man..”


This voice!! It’s not original. It’s coded. Though it sounds a bit familiar I don’t really care for those details now. I gesture my men to track the call and one of them instantly takes out a device to do so. If I go by my guts, I already know its going to lead us nowhere.

“I heard there was a shootout at the Club. Hope you are safe.” He adds.

“Where’s my wife?” I shout.

“You mean the queen of the Devil?” He laughs.

“Who the hell are you and where is my wife? I swear if you even touch her.”

“She is safe…” he interrupts. “Just too exhausted but she put up a damn good fight with my men before they used chlorine to shut her senses.”


Chlorine? I can imagine how they might have done that. The mere thought of Khushi fighting them back while they used every attempt to get hold of her, nauseated me.

“Seemed like you were looking for answers on Jaipal’s death?” the stranger continues. “Let me help you with it then.. I killed Jaipal. I had my reasons.. He was a trouble but more than that, I wanted to fail your wife.. The queen of the devil.. and the undercover agent assigned to destroy the dark world. Of course you know this already, don’t you? That your wife is an undercover agent?”


I grit my teeth. She’s not!! Everyone thinks its her but they don’t know its me!! The DEVIL. The King of DEVILS is the one they are looking for .. my wife has nothing to do with this. Only because she got randomly clicked with Shyam Jha, everyone think she is one of the agents.


“She’s not what you think she is..” I clear his doubts but I know he won’t believe me.

“OH I am sure she is more than that.. And that’s the reason she is a danger for me. You know how things work in our world Devil. You have been taught that in your childhood. Don’t mess with what you have learnt and followed so far. She’s just a woman.. You will get hundreds like her.”

“Shut up..” I groan.

“Forget her, Devil. She is out of your reach now..”

“I will find her,” I challenge him with a sneer. “And I will find you even if its in hell.”


There’s complete silence from his end now.


“Listen to me very carefully, Devil.” He finally speaks. “This is not our fight. You come for her, consequences will be hard. I suggest you stay where you are, do what you are built to do.”

“And I suggest you start counting hours because you don’t have much to live.”


He laughs in response to my threat.

“See you soon then.”


And with that, the call disconnects. I try calling up again but the number isn’t reachable. Of course, the line was coded too. Damn hell!!

“Run a full trace on this number” I yell to my men. “What happened with the location? Did we get anything?”

“No Boss.”

This is worse. My head is a chaotic whirlwind. My wife’s gone! She’s somewhere I can’t keep her safe anymore and I effing don’t understand who got the guts to do this?


“I need every man in the dark world under my radar hereon… EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.” I bark.


Why do I feel whoever this person was, is one of us but not us.. I don’t get a good feeling about it. My phone rings again on my way to the Prime Safe house. I need to check all the camera feeds myself to know how this happened? It’s Aman’s call.


“Arnav.. thank God you are fine.. I heard about the club and.. Khushi..”

“She’s taken Aman.” I yell.. “How dammit? I had the best team looking after her.. Then how?”

“Your team in the prime safe house is beaten bad.. Badly injured but they survived. No casualties. The moment Akash and I got to know, we have started looking for the culprit”

“He had called me..” I mention, holding back my tears. I want Khushi safe. I don’t know why I don’t have a good feeling about this. I tell Aman everything I spoke to this stranger and he is equally shocked.

“He seems to be dangerous. You think its Rana Pratap or one of the Gujrals?”

“I don’t trust anyone but this man… he seemed.. different.. I haven’t dealt with him before I am sure. But he also felt… known.. I.. I don’t know. F***” I scream in anger.


Every rational thought in my mind seems to be against me tonight. Every minute I am talking to Aman is wasting my time to think about Khushi and how I can save her.


“Don’t worry. Akash and I have got this.. We don’t have access to your Prime Safe house feeds because only you had it. We will trace her Arnav. I swear we will and then we will kill this Bast*** who did this to you..”

“Killing him is my right.. Whoever he is, he doesn’t know who I am..” I sneer.

Three hours and I have still no clue of my wife. I am at the Prime safe house again. Akash is here with Aman and the rest of their team. I don’t care if they are doing this secretly for me or telling the superiors. We have checked every camera feed but no luck because each of these feeds were destroyed before whoever was here, entered the house. All we know is that there were five men!! Seriously? Five against my whole army? How could they even enter this fortress?


“What the hell do you mean by we have no clue?” I shout at Akash who’s just finished checking the tapes again.


Akash gives me a scorned look. I know its not his fault. It’s mine. He wanted me to send Khushi with her father away, so that we could end this mission. It was my wife’s idea not to leave and then me supporting her. Wish I hadnt!!


“I am sorry” I say grabbing his arm. “My entire world is crumbling before me and I don’t think I can be calm Akash.”

“It’s okay” Akash nods sympathetically. “we will find her Bhai. But right now we can do that only if we get one single clue.. Think again.. What is it that can help us lead to her.. A way we can track her location. We checked her phone records. The signal went off the moment they took her away from this house. Did you ever give her anything which has a GPS?”


No I didn’t! Khushi hated me tracking her. Wish I had!! I should have. I will when all this is over. I will never let her roam without one. I want her in my scrutiny always. The pain in my chest intensifies.

“Guys, Its Khushi’s father. He wants to know why Khushi is unreachable.” Aman intervenes.

I don’t think I can speak to him when I cannot even assure him that his daughter is safe.


“Tell him she’s sick. She’s resting. No more details.” I say, with a sudden control in my voice.

“Bhai we should tell him the truth. It’s obvious he will come to know it in few days if we don’t find her..”

“WE WILL FIND HER, AKASH!! We will find her in few hours.. not days.. and then we will take this Fuc**** dark world down.”


The tone in my command was enough for Aman to lie to Shashi Gupta about Khushi’s safety and Akash to get back to work.


“Hold on Angel.. Your devil is coming to take you back..” I murmur to myself shutting my eyes.

What are your expectations from - FORBIDDEN?

Hello Friends,

As you all know my Upcoming Novel - FORBIDDEN which is based on the plot which I had once in a fan fiction (FORCIBLY YOURS - SEASON 2) during my times in India forums, is going to release in November. I could never complete that FF as I had to delete all my old works, so this plot always loomed in my head and hence I came up with this book having even more interesting Characters, storyline and twists.

I am so hooked creating video reels for this one on my Instagram account that I cannot tell how much I love doing. Even got messages from a few readers who are nagging me to publish this book this month if possible. So the hype is already there but I wanted to know from you all what are your expectations from this Book?

Every time we pick a book to read or wait in anticipation for a book to release soon, we all have some expectations from it. Share your thoughts on what you want to read in terms of the leads chemistry? Any specific scene you have in mind all these times which you might like to read in a book like this one?
