Chapter 37


Khushi’s POV


Chandrika was pregnant with whose child? This question has haunted me ever since I have got to know about it from Babuji yesterday. I couldn’t carry Chandrika’s photo back to Sheesh Mahal as Arnav had come to pick me up. I wonder why he came to Laxmi Nagar? Was he missing me or was that spell casted on him by Chandrika coaxing him to keep an eye on me. Is she suspicious? But how can be she when she is not in Sheesh Mahal? Unless someone here is passing her the information. I should be careful. I ask Nandakishore to keep doing background check silently on all the staff and security. I hope we find some clue there.

And the blue-eyed version of Arnav? I know its no two different physical men for sure because I had self seen Arnav’s eyes turning blue when someone casted a spell on him at his office in Delhi.


With all these thoughts still consuming in my head, I reach the house where Sheetal is residing and tell her everything whatever I got to know from Babuji.

“She was pregnant?” Sheetal is stunned and so is NK.

“Yes, but then if she was pregnant, how does her revenge connect with the Raizadas?” NK innocently asks.

“Unless that baby belonged to someone from the Raizadas..” Sheetal answers his question.

“What the hell, Sheetal. You are blaming my uncle?”

“NK..” I press his hand. “Calm down. This is just our suspicion because apart from that we have no clue what happened in the past.”

“Exactly,” Sheetal agrees. “That’s why its more than necessary to find out some clue of Chandrika. Only finding her will help us sort this mystery.”


I agree with her. So me and NK both ask Sheetal how we can proceed with that and whatever she says blows our mind.


“I need a sample of Arnav Singh Raizada’s blood.”


My eyes widen in shock.


“Blood?” I gasp.

“That too bhai’s?” NK adds.

“Yes and that too without him becoming suspicious” Sheetal adds.

“No way. That’s impossible,” NK debates.

“Then we would never be able to find the clues on anything, NK.” Sheetal shrugs.

Why blue eyes? Why does Arnav’s eyes turn blue whenever Chandrika’s spell is casted on him? I know somehow solving this part of the mystery will help us reach closer to breaking Chandrika’s spell. But whatever Sheetal is suggesting to do to know that, is simply scary.

“That’s the only way, Khushi. I need a sample of Arnav’s blood. Once I get the blood sample, I will easily use that to follow a ritual according to my studies so far. I have full guarantee it will lead us somewhere to that information over the blue-eyed version of Arnav.” Sheetal mentions.

NK and I stare at each other blankly. Now how am I supposed to get Arnav’s blood ensuring that he doesn't become suspicious or else Chandrika will be alerted too.

“I have an idea.” NK smiles thinking of a plan and whatever that is, I hope it works.

Arnav’s POV


When I come back home from work, I see a hospital van outside Sheesh Mahal. What the hell happened? I rush inside only to find a team of doctors and nurses doing some check up of each and every family member.


“What is happening here?” I ask, and it brings Khushi’s attention to me.

She reaches me happily and slides her arms around mine.

“Regular health checkup”


I don’t recall we doing this before. At least not so widely where each and every family member is doing this together like this is some common event.


“Nannav…” NK joins us. “Actually, you know what happened today?”

“NK, don’t.” Khushi interrupts him.

“Bhabhi please, if I don’t say this, Nannav will not forgive me.”

“What happened today?” I scowl back curious to know.

Khushi sighs but doesn't leave my side and NK continues.

“Bhabhi fainted today while I drove her back from the temple.”

“What?” I instantly turn to Khushi and cup her cheeks. “You fainted? How? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Arnav, it was a normal thing. It’s summers and I was exhausted. Now don’t ask me what exhausted me..” she blushes looking down and I recall why she is shying.


Last night I hardly let her sleep and kept her awake for making love throughout. I shouldn’t be doing that so frequently henceforth which can affect her sleep and in turn her health.


“So, I decided why not to call the doctor and ensure everyone has their health checked up.” NK adds.

I nod in agreement.

“Yea, you did good.”


Then I again turn to Khushi.

“Did they check you?”

“Hmm..”

“And? What did they say?”

“They did some tests,” she shies again. “And some blood tests too.”

“What other tests apart from blood test?” I am curious to know and NK immediately leaves us alone reading her embarrassment.

“Pregnancy test…”


My eyes turn wide in surprise.

“Pregnancy test?” I ask.

“I know its too early and I even told them that’s not going to be positive as we are planning it all well but its just a routine and they got it done which is no harm. But the blood tests were important. Like I would at least know if I have my hemoglobin levels are fine and also the iron levels. They are important when we plan our child.

The moment she speaks of our child, my heart grows fonder of her and I can’t wait for that scene to be true.

“You love kids so much?” I raise her chin to meet her gaze.

“Very much,” she bites her lower lip.

“Boy or girl?”

“Both.. I am not gender biased. What about you?”

I never thought about it but now I do and then smile seeing her.

“I want a baby girl just like you.. cute and innocent and intelligent too..”

“And I want a baby boy. Sharp, obedient and taking care of the family kind.”

“Now who is gender biased?” I mock and she giggles.

“Whatever.. This conversation can be continued later. For now, its your turn”

Turn? For what? She drags me to the couch.

“Time for your routine checkup..”

She forces me to sit and I can’t deny. The doctors check my blood pressure, my oxygen levels and just when they are about to take my blood, I get up.

Khushi’s POV

“I am not doing any blood tests..” Arnav retorts pushing the doctor away.

“Arnav?” I snap. “What is the harm in doing blood test?”

His expressions turn sour…. Raged too.

“I said I don’t want to do it Khushi. As simple as that..”

And he leaves for the stairs. I immediately run behind him and block his way.

“Arnav, that’s not fair. Everyone is doing it and we are only worried of the family’s health.”

“I am fit and fine..” He debates.

“Yea I hope that too that’s why we are just confirming. Whats the harm in doing that?”

“Nothing harm.. I am just not interested.”


He pushes me away and since the only way now to do this is to hurt him someway so that I get his blood. I pretend to lose my balance on the stairs and scream in worry. Arnav instantly turns around and rushes to help me. The moment he holds me tight to support my body frame, I press the hair pin on his arms in the attempt to get a grip on his body. Arnav winches in pain but he doesn't care.


“You okay?” he asks a bit worried for me and I feel so bad for doing this to him.

“I am fine.” I nod. “Hey Devi Maiyaa… But I hurt you.”


I quickly wipe the drops of blood oozed from his hand because of me piercing my hairpin, using my Veil.

“Khushi, I am fine.. This is hardly anything..”

“I know but still..” I wipe the drops and then wrap the veil securely around my neck again.

I was prepared for this backup option in case if Arnav denied to give his blood for tests. All we needed was a sample of his blood and now that’s on my veil which will serve the purpose.

“You go have a shower, while I get your coffee.”

“Yea, and you better watch your steps. I don’t want you to lose your balance on the stairs again”


I pout at his worry and then quickly get down. NK winks at me for the brilliant acting I did out there. Just when I am about to reach him, Arnav pulls my dupatta.. I literally feel the choke on my throat but it soon lightens when he takes it out from my neck completely. What the hell!!


“What… what happened?” I stutter..

“Nothing. This veil is ruined. Let me put it for washing or the best… discard it.”


No. I can’t give him my veil so I told it tight.

“Arnav, I will put it for washing later.. You don’t have to bother.”


He steps closer with his gaze never leaving mine. Did he get suspicious? Whatever it is, this man is too sharp.. I mean. His spell!!


“I want to help my wife. And you have done enough work today for the family by coordinating for the routine check up. Let me give you some relief. I’ll put it for washing.”


And just like that he manages to snatch the Veil from me and hurries back to the room. NK and I stare at each other disappointed. Our plan failed. What next?
