Chapter 50

Arnav’s POV


Khushi kept trembling the entire night as nightmares of that accident kept haunting her. I had to cuddle her, stroke her body and keep showering kisses to soothe her down. She cried throughout the night and it broke my heart to see her in that state. The next morning when I woke up, she was still resting. I didn’t wake her up as she hardly got any sleep last night and needed it to calm her mind. Without disturbing her, I get down the bed, covering her properly with the quilt, and make my way out after using the washroom.


Mom and Dad are both sitting at the couch, looking at me. They obviously can read my face and know I am upset.

“Arnav? Come here my boy..” Dad coaxes me to sit along with them which I do.

“Did you talk to Khushi?” Mom asks.

They both know we have had this cold fight from a few days now.

“Yes, I did. We talked it out and cleared it. I just hope she comes back to her self soon. I can’t see her broken..”

“Broken?” Dad sounds worried. “What is the issue? Can you please tell us too because we can’t see you both juggling with a problem without letting us know.”

“No dad, we are handling it.” I assure him but they both don’t stop coaxing me to tell.


This is not something I can share with them. Not until Khushi wants me to. So when I tell them like that, they understand and stop forcing me.

“In that case, lets postpone the wedding for some days. We can’t marry when our children are in a problem.”


Before I could retort, we hear Khushi’s voice. She is getting down the stairs.

“No Sir. There is no need to postpone the wedding. It will happen as scheduled.”

She’s still in the same night dress she wore last night but she has covered it with a satin robe. My baby looks no less gorgeous in the morning and God knows I wish to do so much more with her. But not until I put her worries at ease.


Khushi reaches us and Mom makes her sit next to her.

“You look so tired. Didn’t you sleep well last night?”

“I did,” Khushi puts a small smile. “Please don’t think so much about me. Your wedding is important.”

“But..”

“And I have something to confess to you both” she interrupts mom and I know exactly what she is going to tell them.


It’s her call if she wants to tell about that accident to my parents because I wouldn’t mind if she only wanted that past to remain between us. Khushi opens up about it slowly, and I hope she doesn't go that emotional like she was the last night. It feels like the support I showed her gave her the strength she needed to share it with my parents who are silent by the time she finishes sharing.


“I just wanted we four to be on the same page,” Khushi adds wiping her tears. “if you think I am not worthy enough to be a part of this family after knowing my past, I…”

“Khushi?” Dad snaps. “How can you even think we will judge you by that past where you were not even remotely responsible?”

“Ayush is right,” mom continues. “It’s all fate that it happened but never think we will have anything against you after knowing all this. We take you as our daughter, Khushi. I don’t think we can get a better wife for our son than you.”

She cups Khushi’s face and gives her a forehead kiss. I expected the same from my parents. Now that they know it from Khushi, I share how Manohar Jha is threating us claiming to have proofs against Khushi and also how his son is trying to play with our company’s reputation by joining hands with the Ghosh Group. Both father-son probably have pledged to avenge and destroy us because we are supporting Khushi, which is never going to change

Dad suggests we speak to our lawyer and be prepared in case Manohar Jha does anything and also under no circumstance we are going ahead with the Ghosh Group of company’s deal as we have enough evidence that they are trying to loot AR Group.


That’s when my call buzzes and I walk away to answer.

Khushi’s POV

I was at my weakest last night but today when I know Arnav and his family are supporting me, I gain my strength back. Manohar Jha has really stooped low this time. He wants to take revenge from me, I am ready to fight back with him in court. And being the CEO of AR Group I am also not letting his son unscathed for playing with AR Group. It’s been half an hour since Arnav is on call with someone while me and Ayush Sir discuss what best possibilities we have and what actions we can take further.


“Don’t worry, Khushi. We’ll fight this together.” Ayush Sir assures.

“I know we will but I just don’t want that to affect your wedding. We have so many people to invite still.”

“She is right, Dad,” Arnav returns. “We have a long list of people to invite.”

I don’t know why Arnav looks a bit relieved as he takes seat next to his father.

“And we are inviting the Jha and Ghosh family too.” He says that turning to me and though his parents are shocked, I can read it on Arnav’s face. He has found something already to get us out of this problem. I am sure of it!! And if that’s so, I can’t wait to know.

Three days later


The day is finally here when Arnav’s parents got married. Yes, they took the vows in temple and it was an intimate affair. Only the close friends and relatives apart from me and Arnav were present when they got married as per the Indian tradition again before the Devi Maiyaa Idol. The moment they were termed as husband-wife again, Arnav gave them a tight hug and they couldn’t contain their excitement. I was a silent spectator so far but then Arnav pulled me to them and made sure I never left his side. It was so pleasant to see him finally getting his parents officially together.

Now it’s evening and though me and Arnav didn’t get time to catch up much, as he is hell busy with the reception preps while I am helping Aarti aunty getting dressed up for the event, along with me dressing up too. I don’t know why but Arnav has sent me this red saree to wear for tonight and it gives me aa different feeling altogether. I have never worn a saree before for him, let alone of his favourite color and choice. I wonder what’s going on in his head. That day when I opened up about the past to his parents and Arnav suggested we are inviting the Jha and Ghosh family too in this event today, he hasn’t spoken a word about it to me. All he has assured me is that he has a way finally to set things right. And me and his father are openly declaring whatever deceit the Ghosh and Shyam Jha have did with our company so that the media knows it too and also our lawyers who will take the necessary legal actions thereupon. Arnav also gave his heads up when this was discussed which makes me feel good that he approves of my decision to expose them being the CEO of the company.


I wear the red designer saree and then me and Arnav’s mom make our way to the living room downstairs where the guests have already crowded. The moment we meet Arnav and his father, people start wishing the couple and Arnav leads me away from the group. We are fortunate that no one is having eyes on us yet as everyone is more focused on Ayush Sir and Aarti Aunty.

“Arnav?? Where are we going?”

Before I can even understand, Arnav pulls me up on the little podium which was created in the corner of the room for the married couple to be in focus tonight. The moment he brings me there, someone hands him the mike and Arnav begins to speak.


“Ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention here please?”


Everyone including his parents turn to us and the room goes quiet as Arnav continues to address them. I see Manohar Jha and Shyam too in the crowd and they are glaring at me but who cares. I know in some time I am going to expose them with the Ghosh and take legal actions.

“It’s such a wonderful moment for me tonight to see my parents reuniting. I’ve always loved them from my heart and so have they but the thought that from here on we all will be staying under one roof and be a family again has sent me to heaven already..”


I pinch him angrily for using such words.. Arnav chuckles and pulls me closer to him by sliding his arm around my waist. I have seen his eyes burning with desire the moment he had seen me getting down the stairs in this saree with his mother but the way he is looking at me now sends shivers down my spine.


“So on this beautiful occasion, I have one more happiness to share with you all.” Arnav adds before smiling back at me. The next instant, Arnav goes down on his knee and opens up a box with a diamond ring in it. “Marry me..”


What?? The moment he says this, my heart skips a beat whereas the crowd cheers. I am in shock though I knew he wanted to get engaged to me on this very day but he never talked about it again and I took it that he wanted to sort our issues first before asking me for marriage.


“C’mon, Miss Gupta,” Arnav grins. “I’ll be the best partner in the world, I promise..”

The moment he says this my smile is back.

“Say Yes..” His parents scream from far and it makes me laugh.

“You already are a mindblowing partner, Mr. Raizada. So, Yes… I’ll marry you..”

The crowd cheers again as Arnav slides the ring on my finger and kisses it. The moment he gets on his feet, I scoop his face and kiss him hard. Yes!! I do it because I couldn’t control myself from claiming him before all these people here.. I love him and this is my way of showing Arnav Singh Raizada how much he means to me. Arnav kisses me back, hungrily and once we pull away, he kisses my forehead.


“Let’s begin this then..” he murmurs and I know exactly what he is talking about.

I turn to the crowd taking the mike from him.

“I can’t believe this is happening. Some of you might think of me as a woman who used her ways to lure her boss’s son to climb one step higher from the CEO role and instead co-own it with my Boss. But I don’t care!! I never cared what the society thinks of our relationship and how we even fell in love or is our love for each other even genuine or not..”


I glance at Shyam and his father who are bubbling with anger.


“Many even tried to ensure that Arnav and his father throws me out of his company and their house and I feel sorry for all their wasted attempts so far. No matter how much they try, they can never succeed and I’ll make sure of that.”

Arnav smiles proudly at me as I continue.

“So, me being the CEO of AR Group have another announcement to make. From past few weeks the deal between AR Group and Ghosh Industries is all out in the media but today before you all I am happily ending that deal right from this very moment because it was never a genuine deal. It was a Sham.

The crowd starts looking at each other and the media is on full alert to capture this declaration on their cameras. I slowly reveal how the Ghosh Group joined hands with Jha’s and tried to take down the company by bribing a few of the top executives. When I found out about Shyam being involved I made sure to have background check of every one from the management who was involved in that deal and that’s when I got the names of people who were involved in sharing AR Groups secrets with Ghosh and Jha. I address the media that these people are fired from the company now and also we have officially sent a legal notice against the Ghosh and Jha for playing with our reputation. Suddenly all cameras try to capture Aatish, his father, and Shyam who try to hide and then soon their guards lead them out of this event. Glad they left because no matter what they will have to face us legally in the court soon.


“Arnav Singh Raizada..” Manohar Jha shouts. “So you chose your side, then? You were playing with us all this while and you never had intentions to leave Khushi or take her down from the CEO role?”

“That’s right, Mr Jha,” Arnav clenches his jaw. “But hold on. Before you threaten us to expose Khushi, we have a small surprise for you as well.”


And saying that, Arnav picks a remote of the plasma TV behind us and turns it On. I wonder what he has planned to save me against all the allegations which Manohar Jha wants to put on me for being responsible for my parent’s accident but the confidence on Arnav’s face tells me, he has got it sorted.
