Chapter 14 A



“What other lies have you told me apart from this Arnav Singh Raizada?” she groans, her face turns red. It is hard to believe this man is planning to put a full stop to her career. She is never going to let that happen.



Arnav fakes to recollect and count the number of lies he told her and then meets her gaze again.



“Just one more” he gently closes the gap between the two. She doesn’t move when he leans at her ear to whisper. “There is no threat to Payal and Akash’s life”



Khushi’s eyes grow wide with that revelation. The whole reason why she married him, got into this trap, was a lie? He pulls himself away to watch her expressions.



“Looks like someone just pinched your wrong nerve” he teases.

“You lied?” she stammers.

“Partially” he nods with no remorse on his face. “Look” he tries to grip her forearms but she shrugs him off. “I didn’t have a choice. You love your sister but you cannot be a scapegoat for her. I had sensed that ever since we met during Angad and Suhani’s wedding. There was only way to make you agree. Threaten you!! Which I did but you still fled on the day of our marriage. So, that day when I caught you in the railway station, I had to cook the best excuse to make you stop running from me. And I cooked up this story of Payal and Akash’s life being in danger. You bought that lie and became my wife.”

She wishes to scratch his face by her nails. This one lie changed her present and future?



“Why?” she asks having no patience left in her body. “Why did you want to marry me?”



The door knocks. It’s such a bad timing. Since the door is locked from inside, no one can get in until they open it. He is about to head to the door but she blocks his way.



“I asked you something.. I need a reply” she groans.



Arnav rolls his eyes.



“Will you finish all the questions today itself? We have a long way to go. Save some for the coming days”

He pushes her away gently and reaches the door. It’s Daadi this time who intruded.



“What is taking her so long to come down?” Daadi asks angrily. “Didn’t Anjali tell you its your first Rasoi today?”



Khushi clenches her jaw. She doesn’t give a damn!!



“I have few calls to make, excuse me” he moves out. Daadi has no clue why Khushi looks so pissed off?

“What happened to you?”

She wants to yell at the old woman for being a part of this lie. Or is she even aware what her grandson did? What excuse he gave her to get married? Does the old lady even know? If not, then its high time she knows it too.



“Were you also involved in his lie?” Khushi shoots her doubts almost instantly.

“Lie? What lie?”

“That Payal and Akash’s life is in danger?” she shouts. “He … he gave me this excuse to convince me for this marriage. Did you support him?”



Subhadra is blank. Is that what Arnav told her? But yesterday before the wedding, Arnav told her that he told Khushi the truth which they should have done some time ago. Why is Khushi saying different things now?



“Whom am I asking this” Khushi concludes. “You all are the same.. You just point at something and then do anything to make it yours. But I am not a commodity Subhadra Raizada. I am not for Sale. I am not prized. And whatever your grandson has done to make me his wife, I am going to make him repent on it. I swear”



“Don’t talk to me like that” Daadi angrily snaps.



Khushi doesn’t wait to listen. She starts to pack the few things she had taken out from her trolley bags.



“What are you doing?” Daadi tries to stop her.

“I am leaving this mad house”

“You cannot leave. You are married in this family”

“The base of this marriage is a lie and I can never accept it”



She continues to pack her cosmetics. Daadi holds her hand and pulls her away from the bags.



“Stop this madness” Daadi yells. Her Blood Pressure shooting up. “You think marriage is a joke? You and Arnav are binded for the next 7 births”

“7 Births?” Khushi scoffs. “I cannot stay here for 7 more minutes”



She shrugs Daadi’s arms and the moment she reaches her bags again, she hears a sound of Subhadra Raizada collapsing on the floor, unconscious.

“How did she fall sick? She was alright till today morning” Anjali mutters to her husband and others who have surrounded Daadi’s bed, waiting for their family Doctor to finish the checkup.



Arnav rushes in the room. He had been out to make a few calls and when he returned he got the news of Daadi’s sudden illness.



“What happened to her?” he asks the Doctor who removes his statoscope from his ear and hangs it around his neck.

“She is unconscious. Probably because of Stress”

“She had taken a lot of stress for this wedding, Doctor” Shyam points out.

“I see” the doctor gets up. “Never mind. Make her eat something once she wakes up and then give her these medicines”



Arnav takes the prescription from the Doctor and forwards it to the servant to get it immediately.



“She will be fine” the doctor pats Arnav’s back and then makes his way out.

“Shyam, the servants said Daadi fell unconscious in Arnav’s room. I don’t understand what conversation she had with the new bride which made her fall sick?”



Arnav suddenly realizes Khushi is not in the room. Where is she? Why is she not here when the whole family is concerned for Daadi? He heads to the door and walks out without conversing anything with the other couple. Anjali chuckles.



“I told you, something is fishy. This Grandmother and grandson are hiding something big from us” Anjali mentions without having any further doubts in her mind.



Shyam sighs.



“We will find out. For now, you take care of Daadi or at least pretend to do so because the other Bahu doesn’t seem to be doing that either”

“She is not going to be permanent in this house if she keeps doing all this. She is making her own way out soon and I will be more than honored to help her get out”



Shyam smiles with his wife. She is wicked and that’s what he has always liked about her.
