My New Boss - Season 3 - Part 3

PREVIOUS PART

Chapter 3

Khushi’s POV

When I reach office, someone else in already occupying my cabin. It’s Ayush Singh Raizada. I paste a genuine smile on my lips and greet him.

“Good morning, Sir. Did I make you wait too long?”

I know I haven’t. I am always punctual. Yet, it’s always good to ask.

He turns from the windows and smiles back at me.”

“You don’t have to ask me that ever. I can be late for meetings, but you can’t.”

I take it as another compliment. He has so much faith in me and I will never let him down. I keep my purse and turn On my laptop but I don’t sit on the CEO chair. Not when my Boss is here.

“Sir, you may take the seat.” I offer him my seat but he chuckles.

“That’s your place, Khushi. You have earned it. I will sit here though.”

He sits opposite to me and once we settle down, he speaks again.

“How do you find my son?”

His question literally slips the pen from my fingers.

“What…? I mean.. In what way?”

He laughs at the shock in my tone.

“I asked him to shadow you so he is going to spend a lot more time with you than me. That’s why I wanted to ask how did you find him? He can be very demanding at times.”

Demanding? I swallow.

“He’s rude most of the times,” I answer without filtering my words.

Ayush Sir’s brow twitch in surprise.

“And I am sorry to say, he’s too proud of being your Son which is why he probably hates to report me.”

His shoulders stoop.

“Maybe I hurt his ego but I was just giving him a way to learn about this company before he can take a better role here.”

I agree to that.

“But why not allow him be your shadow instead of mine?” I ask.

“I had thought about it too. But with me he won’t learn. He will only adapt. Being my son, he will have his own perks if he’s seen with me all the time which is why I made him work with you. I hope that’s not a big trouble to you.”

TROUBLE? It’s HELL. I don’t say that aloud.

“Not at all, Sir. But you will have to give me permission to teach him things my way. If he goes wrong, I might not take it lightly. Unless you want me to ignore.”

“Oh no. Though I am confident my son won’t make any mistake, I would never come in between you two.”

Great!! That should be fun. The door knocks and Aman, my secretary peeps inside.

“Come in Aman.” I gesture him to get inside. He greets Ayush Sir and then passes me a coffee and a bouquet.

“What is this?” I ask him, pointing at the bouquet.

“Oh this?” He smiles. “It’s for ASR.”

“For me?” Ayush Sir interrupts.

“No Sir. For the Junior ASR. Your son.”

We both glance at each other and then turn to Aman again.

“It came this morning for ASR and I am about to keep it in his cabin now. Thought I would after giving Ma’am her coffee.” Aman adds.

Aman makes me coffee every day and I am so glad he is such a perfectionist. I love the coffee he makes with the right amount of sugar and milk.

“It came for Arnav? Who sent it? Any specific note?” Sir interrogates, curiously.

“It’s from Mitali Gosh”

Why does that name sound so familiar to me? I try to remember when Sir pokes.

“You mean, daughter of the Ghosh Group of companies’ director?”

“Yes Sir” Aman nods.

Damn!! Me and Ayush Sir both turn to see each other. This Gosh Group is the same company we are going to sign the contract with today.

“How does Arnav know them? He’s just heard about them in the conference yesterday, didn’t he?”

I nod. I have no effing clue either. But a vague idea pricks my head. Is he doing this for the contract? Building a good rapport to make sure we have friendly ties with the Clients even before we sign the contract with them? But why the Director’s daughter? Why not contact and be friendly with the Director himself?

So typical men!! Aman leaves the cabin and I clear my throat to get Sir’s attention again.

“I don’t know what’s going on in Arnav’s mind but anyways, since you are taking the lead here, I can be assured that we will get this deal without any hiccups.”

“We will, Sir” I promise and shake hands with him as he rises to his feet. I walk him to the door and then exactly after an hour, I make my way to Arnav Singh Raizada’s cabin.

When I open the door, he is speaking on phone to someone. Damn!! His Cabin is like a den of luxury!! I knew Ayush Sir was renovating this cabin from a long time in the hope that someday his son will come and occupy it but I never saw he made it this attractive. It’s the best in the whole office with all contemporary furniture, modern attractive décor and that Glass table!! Wow!!

He sees me but keeps talking. In a grey suit, the man looks like he’s here to takeover the company. He does carry his attitude and arrogance all the effing time with him.

I cross my arms and wait for him to finish. It’s not a business call, I can say that by the kind of words he uses. Could be a friend he’s talking to. Man, I think so. Not a woman definitely.

“All right Buddy, see you soon.” He says dropping the call and glaring at me. “Miss Gupta, I prefer you knocking the door next time before you enter this cabin.”

His command puts me off-balance. Didn’t I knock? Maybe I forgot!! I am not so unprofessional otherwise.

“That’s simple mannerisms you should already be aware of.” He adds getting back to his chair.

“Don’t teach me ethics when you can’t follow those yourself” I snap

He sprawls on his chair, arrogance oozing from his handsome face. He wants me to explain why I said that and I quickly reach the table and touch the bouquet on his table.

“Luring your client’s daughter to get the Deal is not what I call ethics Mr. Raizada.”

He watches me with a stern expression. Something transpires between us in the way we throw those heated glares. He stands up and circles the glass desk to reach me.

“Putting fake allegations on someone you hardly know is not ethics either, Miss Gupta.” He snaps.

I see his jaw clenched hard, as if he is curbing his anger.

“Then what are these flowers doing here?” I ask.

“None of your business!! We are supposed to work together, don’t act like my wife.”

“Excuse me?” I scowl. “You will have to take thousands of births to even think of being my husband.”

“Not the least interested.” He smirks. “The more I stay away from you, the happier I will be. So now if we are done with mocking and instigating each other, can we talk business? Why are you here?”

I swallow my annoyance. He acts like he’s the boss. Well then, let me show who I am!

“To ask you to sync your watch and Calendar with mine because we have a meeting with the Ghosh Group in an hour and we should be leaving now.”

He checks his watch and nods.

“Get to the parking, I will be there in five.”

“Make it three. I don’t like to be late.”

Saying that, I turn around and leave his cabin knowing well enough he’s throwing daggers at me with his gaze!! Who cares?

******************

Arnav’s POV

I hate women with that kind of attitude but somehow her attitude attracts me to a sense that I don’t understand it myself. I hope I will know more about it as we spend time together. When I come down, she’s already in the car. I get at the backseat with her and the driver drives us out. Khushi is wearing a formal pencil skirt and a White causal shirt neatly tucked in, plus a thin blazer on it. A perfect business look. Suits her.

“Did you study the file I gave you yesterday?”

I give her a pointed look.

“You think I wouldn’t?”

“That’s not the answer to my question.”

“Then stop asking such questions whose answer you know. I might be new to this Company Khushi Gupta. I am not new to Business.”

“Really?” she frowns. “Creating some software and selling it to UK Government you call Business?”

DAMN Her!! I curb my anger.

“Someone has done some homework about me.” I mock instead.

She rolls her eyes.

“I make sure to know everything about the people I spend my precious time with. You must have heard. Keep your friend close and enemy closer..”

“I am neither your Friend nor your enemy Miss Gupta. I am someone whom you will report to some day.. Maybe not today… not this month or year… but someday and let me tell you it wont be easy unless you stop being so hard on me for no reason now..”

She gives me a challenging stare..

“The day I have to report you, will be the last day of me in this Company.”

I go quiet and so does she. Only our gazes talk and if they could really talk, the car would have been filled with dozen of cuss words by now..

BLURB

“I need a divorce,”

“You stole my line, Ananya. Doesn't matter how much our lives mismatch, this time, we are on the same page. I need a divorce too.”

“Great. So, let's catch up at your sister’s fifth wedding anniversary and get this done with.”

“Sounds perfect.”

Message conveyed!! The phone line disconnects!!!

Rajveer Chopra, CFO of a multinational telecom company in Australia, married his childhood enemy Ananya Mathur, a social media influencer for a fashion brand in New York, to satiate the long-lasting desires of the two families to see them together as a couple. If Rajveer loved East, Ananya preferred West. The only thing common between them was the passion for their respective profession and the countries they lived in. If Rajveer was adamant to stay in Australia forever, Ananya had no plans of leaving New York ever. They dragged their loveless marriage for ten months without seeing each other, with less than a dozen messages exchanged between them only on important events. Finally, they mutually agreed to put an end to this assault and move on. Breaking their family’s hearts would be difficult, but it was better than dragging a loveless marriage.

What will happen when these two meet again in India during their one-month stay? Can they ever sacrifice their priorities for each other? Can love frame an equation between the two, or will they part ways amicably?

RAJVEER's POV

Excusing my friends, I stand at the railing with a glass of Vodka, observing her group, especially Ananya, who looks so excited tonight as if she has won a billion-dollar lottery. Why not? She was divorcing a man whom she has hated all her life. She runs a hand over her dark hair to smoothen them, a gesture she does absentmindedly whenever she leaves her hair. God! I can’t believe I have known Ananya’s silly to intense gestures so closely. Strange but true. Maybe I have spent too much time fighting with her since my childhood to notice any other woman.

As if she senses my eyes on her, Ananya cranes her head and looks exactly at the top, where I am standing and gawking at her. We never had that kind of telepathy before. Why now? We say we don’t have a connection, then what is all this?

She is as stunned as I am to see her at this very place that was supposed to be my solace tonight. I take out my phone and type her a message.

‘Are you stalking me?’

I didn’t mean it but I know it’s enough to aggravate her. As soon as I hit send, I see her fiddling with her clutch to take out her smartphone. The waitress guides the group to a table and Ananya follows them while checking my message. She first throws me a ‘Go to Hell’ look before typing a response that beeps on my phone almost instantly.

‘My friends booked this place for me, I didn’t. If I knew you were here, I would run far away from the city to escape you. Especially tonight when I want to celebrate my freedom.’

I hold my laugh. Ananya and her witty talks. She too is here to celebrate. Like minds!! Ever since we have taken this decision to part ways, we have started thinking alike. Strange!! But I have to remind her she cannot share this reason with anyone else at this point. I message her that.

‘No one needs to know about our divorce proceedings yet.’

Her reply beeps again on my phone in a few seconds.

‘Why do you make it sound like it’s our dirty secret? We are divorcing and that’s legal.’

Huh! This woman can never agree with me without a debate.

I reply.

‘I don’t believe your friends. What if they open their mouths in front of our families before Akash-Riddhi’s anniversary?’

By the time Ananya checks my reply, their drinks arrive at the table. She is having a cocktail. She sips it, says something to her friends, grins and types back a reply for me.

‘I have that much brains, Rajveer. Haven’t told a third soul about our Divorce. Now, will you please let me enjoy? I am not here to play chat-chat with you.’

I read her reply and frowning at Ananya whose gaze is fixed on me, I return back to my table. I can still see her, though I try my best to avoid even her presence.

Arnav can't be dominated that easily though Ayush Raizada had given permission to treat Arnav as her wish. Looks like Arshi won't fall in love that easily. Thanks for the Update😍😍

  15. Khushi is calling Arnav arrogant when he has not once used his Raizada tag in any way while she has let the position of CEO get to her head. I'm disappointed in the father also who can she his son's so called faults but is blind towards Khushi dismissive tone while talking about him. Secondly Khushi without knowing details, throws allegations at Arnav. Again if the roles were reversed, Arnav would've been criticized for talking about Khushi character without proof but in this case its apparently not a big deal cause a woman is accusing a man of underhanded dealings. She also belittles his business achievements and shows her lack of knowledge when she says developing a billion-dollar software is child's play.
