Chapter 20B



Khushi’s POV


The family is back inside and Dad is so busy laughing and chatting with everyone as if he knows them from years. Akash and Payal are missing from quite a few minutes.


“They are upstairs…” Arnav whispers and my eyes turn wide.

“Why?”

“You don’t know?” he teases.


My cheeks flame at this comment and more when he grabs my arm and gets up.

“Di.. Khushi wants to see my plants. We will be right back.”

“Sure” Anjali Di probably understands but my father is oblivious why Arnav suddenly wants to show me his plants?

He is so busy chatting with Akash’s father, that we don’t wait for his permission. Arnav drags me to the stairs and I am forced to meet his pace. He pushes the door of his room open and drags me to the poolside. I have never seen him this desperate for me. I always thought him the sober kind. Arnav pushes me to the wall at the poolside and pins me with his arms on either side.


“Arnav? What… what do you think you are doing?” I stutter, hoping badly my face doesn’t reveal how much I have loved him doing this.

“What do you think I am doing?”


His way of cross questioning, despite knowing very well we both are aware why we are here, makes the moment even hotter. As he leans closer, my breath hitches. But he doesn’t kiss me. Instead whispers in my ears.


“If you don’t want this, all you have to do is ask me to stop..”

I swallow. His words.. His voice.. his tone.. why is he so cute? I shut my eyes when he pulls away and gapes at me.


“Closing eyes wont work, Khushi.”

Instead of opening them, I shut my eyes tight. This is all too new for me. I might be all bold and beautiful but in romance, I am zero.!! He doesn’t speak again but I can feel him still close. I am still pinned both by his arms and gaze. Why isn’t he doing this and finishing the act? What’s he waiting for? I open my eyes and watch him staring at me with the same longing like he had on his face all this time. I decide to tease him a bit!!


“We shouldn’t be doing this.”

“Doing what?” he mocks and my cheeks flame again. I am sure he can see their color changing.

“Whatever you got me here for..” I snap. “And stop repeating my questions. You are not as innocent as you pretend to be”


His smirk is back.

“Okay. I just wanted to kiss you but if you don’t want it, lets go down.”


He grabs my arm again and I know he means it. Before he can drag me, I stop him and cup his cheeks. He swallows painfully as our eyes meet.


“I might be the most unromantic woman in the world Arnav, but with you, I feel the opposite. You are too good for my hormones.”


Arnav’s teasing smirk is enough to let me know he is happy. He pins me back to the wall and the next minute, our lips smash on each other’s. There’s a difference between kissing and being kissed. Arnav isn’t kissing me, he’s taking a kiss from me.. in such a way that I can feel my soul shuddering. I really wonder if this is how he kisses me, how would the rest of the act be when we consummate our relationship. The mere thought of it makes me pull him closer.


We pull apart to breathe. Voices of the family from the door force us to break this moment here. Looks like the Raizadas are showing Dad the house. Obviously, they won’t enter this room but it’s always better to be cautious.


Arnav rubs the corner of my lips to wipe off the smudged gloss and then pecks my forehead. The smirk on his face turns into a grin.


“What?” I ask, curious to know why he is grinning like that.

“You look like thoroughly kissed.”


Shit! Do I? I push him away and head to the dressing mirror. He’s right. My hair has become messy and my lips swollen. Arnav reaches behind and pulls me to his body such that my back hits his chest. He kisses my shoulder blade once before placing his chin there and watches me in the mirror.


“You look good.”

“I look good messy?” I ask brushing my hair with my fingers to make sure they look normal. His sherwani has got a few creases, all thanks to the way I kept tugging it. So I turn around and brush those creases off but no luck.

“It’s fine. I will change”


He is about to leave when I stop him.

“No. Are you kidding me? If you change the Sherwani, everyone will be suspicious. They will think we …”

“We?”


Damn my cheeks!! They hurt as I blush again.

“We are officially bonded by the Roka now.” Arnav replies. “They wont mind if we cross a few lines. They all have with their respective partners.”


He is right. They all have.

“But I like this color on you.” I cling to his arm.

His brows twitch in surprise.

“Really? Then I am not taking this off for a few days.”

That makes me laugh… Hard. The door knocks and whilst I make sure to check myself in the mirror again, Arnav opens the door. It’s Akash and Payal.


“Bhai? What is this? The Roka is not even done and you two are full on into each other? Away from the family?” Akash teases.

“Where were you two?” Arnav asks. “To be honest, me and Khushi took you both as an example for pulling this stunt.”


Akash laughs whereas me and Payal are still blushing at their way of teasing each other. Akash locks the door again as if he wants to talk something serious. I am all in!!


“Bhai, do you know these girls are not willing to get married until the pandemic ends?”


Arnav sighs.

“I know. I have heard.” He turns to me with a ‘not so cool’ expression. He wants to get married soon and is waiting for my approval. But as I have declared it before, I don’t want to get married only between 10-20 people. I want a proper wedding with all the celebrations which is impossible under the current situation.


“Khushi” Payal interrupts. “We both think so much alike but these Raizada men are hurrying. Poor them.”

“Poor you two..” Akash scoffs. “We have already wasted years by not meeting each other before and you two want to waste some more time by staying away like this.”


He is right and when I look Arnav, he seems to agree.


“I don’t know all that.” Payal exclaims. “Marriage will be only after the pandemic is over. Until then only Hello I Bye bye..”


We all laugh at her statement, especially the way she mimicked her would-be mother-in-law.


“Payal? You are such a tease.” Akash groans, holding his grin.

“You didn’t know I was like this? Want to change your mind Mr. Akash Singh Raizada?”


He groans hard and I realize by the way he is staring at her, Payal soon has to make it up to him with nothing less than a kiss!!


“Alright, guys. Stop fighting. We should leave down. Everyone will be waiting for us.” Arnav mentions.

Akash opens the door and soon we all head out.


The night gets darker and hence we decide to leave. I hug and take blessings of everyone like Payal does and then we are off to the car. Dad invites the Raizadas for a lunch and we are more than happy to host the family. I watch Arnav’s expressions. He looks happy too but I know something is missing. So I add it for him.


“Please get Maxi as well. We don’t want to leave anyone from the family behind.”


The family looks at each other and then at me and Payal. We both have the same opinion. Maxi is a family!! How can we not invite him.

“Sure bitiya.. We will get Maxi too.”


I see Arnav smiling at me and he mouths a Thank you which I nod and acknowledge. He opens the door for me and I get in the car. Our fingers brush and its enough to create a friction in our bodies. We miss each other’s touch already. Looks like I am soon going to change my decision of getting married after the pandemic is over. I don’t think I can wait that long!!
