Chapter 37
Khushi’s POV
I waited for Arnav to come back in the room so I can discuss with him about Akash’s coldness. Didn’t know I would dose off so soon. Today morning when I wake up, Arnav is not in the room. I wonder if even came back in the room last night. I walk out of the room, only to find him speaking to Kate, my personal trainer and bodyguard. He looks all set to leave somewhere. As soon as he sees me, he dismisses Kate and strides to me instead.
“When did you wake up?” I ask meeting him in between.
“Just an hour back.”
Hour back?
“You slept early” he kisses my forehead.
“I dozed off. Why didn’t you wake me up?”
“Why would I wake my sleeping wife?”
Damn him!! I slide my arms around his neck and draw myself closer to him. He smells like mint.
“You are so unromantic Devil. More than me needing fitness classes, you need some romantic ones.”
He wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me closer.
“I’m not very free during the day time. How about night classes?”
I want to laugh. He’s teasing me. Two can play this game!!
“Such classes are best taken at night.” I add.
“Perfect. Please hire a good tutor. I need a fresh face.”
“WHAT?” I scream. “You need a fresh face? For romance classes? What about me then?”
For the first time I see him laughing aloud like I cracked some joke. His laugh is contagious and though I know he was just teasing him, I don’t take it lightly. I hit his chest, arms and try to push him away when Arnav grabs me back to him.
“I was just teasing you Angel..”
Angel?? He never called me that before.
“Angel?” My brows pinch.
“I am a Devil and you are my Angel.”
“Don’t be late for the class tonight or else it wont take time for your angel to turn into a Devil herself.”
He’s not scared of my warning at all. Who can scare the King of Devils? Instead he leans on my face and steals a kiss. It’s a toe-curling kiss which is enough to freeze me for life. I kiss him back with similar fetish as the one he shows. So glad there isn’t a single soul present in our house to intervene our moments. When my toes go jelly, he lifts me and I wrap my legs around him to let him take me wherever he wants, none of us willing to break the kiss. Feels like he relaxes on the couch with me on his lap and that’s when our kiss finally breaks. I gasp for air so does he.
“I have never..” I gasp.. “Been…” I inhale again.. “kissed like this.”
His lips curl into a smirk.
“Then you’ll always be kissed like this henceforth.”
His reply makes me blush. Arnav’s forehead touches mine.
“I don’t need a class to be romantic with you Khushi Singh Raizada. Just look at me and I can give you a hell of a romantic night. All you need to do is … .ask…”
Waves of desires ripples through my body!! He wants me to ask him to make love to me? I recall telling him once that until he shares all his secrets, I won’t let him have the husband rights on me. Now he is slowly opening up about his past and though I don’t know all of it, I am happy that he’s started at least.
Before we could get deeper into this conversation, his phone buzzes. I’m about to get off his lap but he holds me still. I help him get the phone from his pant back pocket and he quickly checks the message. His eyes heat and I am sure the message isn’t good.
“All okay?”
He puts me down and rises to his feet.
“Got some work to do. I will see you tonight.”
And with that, he’s gone. Without a bye or a goodbye kiss. Well! He’s busy so I understand.
Kate trains me again today and I spend some time with Buaji. I’m told dad has gone out with Arnav so that leaves us alone. Spending the whole day without a message from Arnav is not uncommon. I wish this all ends soon and we both get to live a life without such stress. I learn a few things to cook from Buaji today. She tells me Bitter gourd is Arnav’s favorite. So I start with it. I am not shocked by his choice though. Buaji asks me how I am coping up being his wife. I know what exactly she wants to ask me but is checking indirectly.
“Buaji I am fine. And he’s treating me like a Princess. I know he’s still all broody and secretive but that’s okay. Things will change once this is all over.”
She frowns.
“Do you really think this will be over any time soon? It’s been so many years now since he is connected both to the dark world and the secret agency. It’s not going to be over soon Khushi. It’s just his way of giving you hopes.”
“Why will he give me false hopes?”
“To keep you with him forever.”
I don’t understand.
“I have known his father. He did the same. Always kept giving me hopes that some day things will ease down. It was only later that I realized he did that to keep me with him and Arnav. He never wanted me to walk out of his life. Arnav is doing the same.”
My heart lurches at her accusation.
“I spent years decoding his life and then Arnav’s. I never wanted you to do the same.” She adds.
“There’s a different Buaji.” I interrupt. “Arnav is working on the good side and faking to be with the Evils. And I Know he will succeed soon. I believe him and I promise you will see us living a happily ever after life soon.”
A small smile pops on her lips seeing my enthusiasm. I give her a hug and we continue cooking. Tonight I plan to surprise Devil with his favorite bitter gourd sabji.
It’s evening when I return back to the Villa when Aman’s call rings on my phone. He never calls me without a reason. Is Devil okay? I quickly answer the phone call and ask him the same.
“Yea your Devil is fine. I called you to inform that his cousin Akash is on way to your place. He wants to meet Devil. Please welcome him there until Devil returns.”
“Wait. What? Akash? Why .. why is he coming here??”
“He’s my boss Khushi. I don’t have the liberty to ask him so. But guess he and Devil has some plans to discuss. Hope you don’t mind that he’s coming on such a short notice. He will be disguised in a moustache and hat, with a long black coat. Just to ensure no one recognizes him.”
Black Coat, hat and moustache? I don’t like that get up already.
“Okay, please send Devil soon.”
“He’ll be more worried to reach home than you know. He doesn’t like you having visitors like that.”
I grin and end up the call. Thirty minutes later, Akash is here. He takes out his hat and moustache before getting inside the Villa.
“Please come in” I say giving him space to walk.
He scans the place like he doesn’t like it much. Has he ever been here before? I don’t know neither will I ask.
“Water?”
“No thanks. I’m not here for that.”
“I know. But you can have something until he’s back home.”
“I said NO”
Fine!! I don’t force him.
“How’s everyone at home?” I try to change the subject.
“Good”
“Sheetal seems to be a kind woman. Very beautiful too..”
“I am not here for friendly or family talks. Can you not dwell into it please?”
I can’t believe Akash spoke to me like that and it hurts. I have no clue what his problem is but I will soon find it out now that he’s here.
“You hate me because Devil married me?” I ask straight to the point.
“His name is Arnav. I’ve clarified that already.”
“I love to call him Devil. And he doesn’t mind. So, no one else should have a problem with that.” I cross arms challenging him to tackle this remark from me.
He gives me a cold stare.
“I’ll come back when Bhai is here.”
He tries to walk away.
“I’m sure your mission never included portraying yourself as a coward.” I mock.
He turns around, giving me a deathly stare. I don’t care. I am not afraid of him. Akash strides back to me.
“Our mission never included Bhai and your marriage either. And that’s exactly what’s hurting me the most. You make him vulnerable Khushi. Your silly acts have put him in danger and he is still risking his life for you. Is this enough for you to know why I hate you at the moment?”
“AKASH”
We both jerk hearing Arnav’s voice at the door. It’s evident from his expressions and tone that he didn’t like the way Akash spoke to me. I don’t want to be a trouble between the brothers though. Neither Akash is wrong. He has every rights to hate me as I’m making Devil vulnerable.
Devil strides inside the room, standing right next to me. He stills looks agitated but not when his gaze drops on me moving from Akash.
“We’ll have coffees. Akash loves Black coffee and you know already what I like.”
I smile at his little gesture of kissing me on my forehead,
“I will bring it right away.”
I leave for the kitchen.

Arnav’s POV
As soon as Khushi leaves, my eyes dart in anger at Akash.
“How many more warnings do you need to behave sanely with my wife?”
Akash exhales.
“I was in my best behavior bhai. She’s the one who poked me calling me a coward. And I whatever I said wasn’t completely wrong. She is making you vulnerable. You are risking your life..”
“My life was always at risk you know that already. What’s pricking you Akash? Spit it out.”
“Fine. Then listen” He growls. “In our profession, its better we marry people we don’t love or fall in love with because if a day comes when we have to choose between our mission and that woman, we can make the right choice and choose the one we are liable to, so that it doesn’t hurt us much in the end.”
I swallow knowing what he means.
“You are falling in love with her Bhai. We don’t deserve to fall in love with anyone apart from our mission and the safety of our country. I don’t want you to kick the mission in jeopardy to save Khushi in future. That’s all.”
I knew it!! I knew Akash thinks I am no longer focusing on the mission but my wife. He’s having a problem with that. Akash has always been like this.. A trained heartless soldier. Though Maami got him married to Sheetal, I can feel he doesn’t love her the way a wife deserves. It’s all superficial. He’s scared to love and thinks that it might jeopardize his oath towards the mission. I was heartless too, just like him but Khushi turned me into something better.
“Loving a person and loving the mission are two different things Akash. They can never intermingle. The day you realize this, you will understand I am doing nothing wrong.”
He’s about to debate when Khushi comes out with our coffees. He sits on the couch and I take a seat opposite to him. Khushi serves us and then saying she’s in the room upstairs if I need her, she walks away. No smiles or byes to Akash. Well!! He deserves that from her.

ReplyDeleteArshi are so romantic. It will be interesting to see Khushi giving romantic lesssons to Arnav. Khushi is changing Arnav but in a good way. Like the little nok jhok between Arshi and their romance. Arnav will surely share his past some day. Khushi wants to live a normal life and learning to cook Arnav's favourite dish. Akash was cold with Khushi. Akash has problems with Arshi's marriage and Arnav's vulnerability. Khushi is so nice. Like the way Arnav comforted Khushi by arriving at the right time. Akash thinking is wrong. Arnav even Khushi knows the importance of Arnav's mission. Arnav can handle both the mission and his personal life well. Khushi is clearly upset. Hope Arnav will pacify her.

Akash is being selfish by his thought. He shouldn’t have married and giving this kind of attitude to his wife sheetal then and too rude with Khushi. Arnav and Khushi relationship getting lovely. Fabulous update
ReplyDeleteAs a fictional character, its very refreshing and intriguing to see this type of akash. He is a total contrast to his typical birth character. And as a person he is too wrong in his beliefs and perception. Soldier shouldn't marry out of love or love their wives so that it become easy for them to choice and discard them without any regard, but what about their(wives)love for their husbands? You might not care for them or love them but how can you stop them. Not everyone is heartless to not fall in love or care about their partners, isn't. What's their mistake and fault to get the punishment of loveless and meaningless marriage!!! How selfish and cruel of you to not give love so that you can excel you responsibility as a soldier, but what about responsibility as a husband, as a partner, as a companion, as a better half, as a protector!!! When you can't care and love your own wife, can't respect her emotions, can't protect her and value her than how can you do the same for others wives and ppl!!! Doesn't your wife comes in your country ppl! Doesn't she comes in the list of ppl to be protected by you as a duty and her as a citizen of your country!!! Wouldn't you give your life to save even 1 life of civil ppl than why can't your wive get the same privilege!!! Its wrong. Its injustice. And by akash logic of loving make you vulnerable, so don't love, doesn't he has a family or love them!!! Shouldn't you also discard your family like your wife coz of your logic!!!
ReplyDeleteBut i agree with his 1 point that soldier like them either shouldn't marry or marry girls like them. So that it doesn't hurt their wives to not be their priority and first choice and be sacrificed in the name of duty.
Anyways, lm very much curious and excited to see how he is going to be tame down and behave like a human, just like arnav. I wish khushi to be the reason behind his change just like arnav and want to see this same heartless and cold akash to be all hearty, protective, caring and extremely loving towards the same khushi whom he hates and loathes to make arnav vulnerable by her love. I really wish plzzzzzzzz.
