Arnav’s POV
She drives the scooter in the safest speed limit and it brings a yawn on my face. So many other two-wheelers have already passed us and might have reached their destination too.
“Can you drive a bit fast?” I urge.
“Didn’t you see the speed limit board behind? It said 40kmph and I am abiding by that.”
“Seriously?” I glare at her in the rear mirror which we both use to see each other while communicating.
“I don’t joke unnecessarily. Don’t you follow such basic traffic rules?”
“I do but its fine to drive a bit faster if there’s no vehicle or people around.”
“That’s not my style”
She frowns this time.
“Fine then. Allow me to ride. Because its definitely my style”
Her frown deepens.
“I don’t like people touching my scooter and she doesn’t like strangers riding her either.”
I try not to laugh at her sarcasm.
“Well technically I am touching your scooter, what about that?”
“very funny” she mocks. “Don’t talk to me while I ride. It’s against the driving rule to divert the rider’s mind.”
“OH F****” I scream being annoyed of everything. Her .. this situation and most importantly the delay this is causing me to reach the MahaPuja.
In a second, she stops the scooter and while I hope she is letting me ride it now, she does something totally unexpected.
“Get down”
“What?”
“I said get down. You used that cuss word again. Once I can ignore. Twice I don’t recommend ignoring.”
“Excuse me? Are you serious?”
“Very. Now get down.”
My mouth hangs open but I do get down. This much insult is more than enough on one single day from one woman.
“You know what? Stick to your words Miss Devotee. You didn’t ignore the first time I used that cuss word. You made me say sorry and now I am least interested in doing that again. So I am glad you are asking me to get down because otherwise I would have done the same. I have no interest in riding with a silly drama girl like you.”
She gives me a cold look then starts kicking her scooter to start the engine. One, two, three and it starts.
“Happy walking Mr. Cuss.”
What? What did she call me? Cuss? How.. How dare she? Before I can even do anything, she rides away. What the hell?? How am I supposed to reach the temple now? I keep walking. Luckily in 5 minutes a common Autorickshaw from the opposite direction reaches me and takes a U turn.
“Bhaiyaa, should I drop you?”
The driver seems to be a kind hearted man. He could have easily rode in the direction he was heading instead of taking U-turn, but he didn’t.
“Thanks. Take me to the old temple” I get inside.
“Jee”
A fifteen minute ride and I reach the temple. Just when I get down and pay, I find the same girl parking her scooter and even locking it at the temple premises. Seriously?
“No one will steal your stale scooter..” I tease.
She is not surprised to see me here. She keeps locking it.
“And you know what? People like me who have good fate find ride themselves. It’s far better than begging people like you who claim to be Devi Maiyaa’s devotee but are so unwilling to help the needy.”
“Arre bhaiyaa” the auto driver interrupts. “Why are you shouting at her?”
“Oh man. You have no idea how cunning she is. She left me alone to look for a ride on that road only because I used a cuss word.”
“Cuss word? What is that?”
I am speechless. How can I forget people here are simple and might not understand.
“Haan haan.. Please tell him what that means..” the girl mocks me this time.
When I glare at her for not challenging me, she turns to the driver.
“Bhaiya, you go. This man will teach you bad words before a holy place like this. I don’t trust him at all.”
“Oh hello Miss Devotee. You don’t have to tell everyone what to do and what not to.”
“I will because this temple is my responsibility.” She argues.
“Oh really? You own it?”
“Devi Maiya owns it and has given me the right to look after things here.”
Wait a minute!! Did she really handles everything here? Is that supposed to mean she works for me? My company? Damn!! When I focus back on her, she is already walking to the temple stairs.
“Bhaiyaa, you shouldn’t have fought with her. Khushi Jeeji is the one who asked me to go and pick you up from that road. Otherwise you wouldn’t have found any other ride on that road for long.”
What? Firstly, I am awed by her name – Khushi.. Means happiness. Does she really spreads happiness because as far as I have experienced, she only knows to ask people’s apology. And lastly, is this man telling the truth? It was she who sent him to pick me up? Huh!! Why would he lie? So I decide to ask him a few more questions.
“Does she really work here? In this temple?”
“No No. Khushi bitiya is the biggest follower of Devi Maiyya and she surely pays a visit here every morning but apart from that she works for the Raizadas as their accountant. Everything that comes under the Raizadas in this town, she handles all that with her father.
Hmm !! Accountant!! Not bad!! I thank the driver when I see my cousin Nandakishore rushing to me.
“Nannav, mere bhai. Where had you been? Everyone is waiting for you inside and wait. What are you wearing? Nani had told you to wear Sherwani. Not jeans and leather jacket.”
“Damn right. I forgot that.”
“It’s okay. Have got an extra pair of Kurta. Should fit you.”
Saying that he drags me to the temple while my eyes keep searching for the girl who really wasted a lot of my time and peace today. But one thing I literally forgot was to thank her. She saved me from that scary woman on the road. I hope never to face such an incident again.. Ever!!

Awesome Update. Arshi are very different from each other . Khushi will bring Arnav back on track. Khushi is religious and kind hearted too. Arnav came to know about Khushi's job and she being a devotee of Devi Maiyaa. Hope Arnav thank Khushi. Missed the scary woman and waiting to know more about her. Thanks for the Update😍😍

ReplyDeleteKhushi is very unique and she abide by rules and regulations too . Arshi's conversation was cute. Khushi left Arnav as he uttered a cuss word. Khushi works for Arnav. Khushi is very kind hearted . Khushi has a kind heart too she helped Arnav though she left him. Khushi works for Arnav . Arnav enquiries about her and came to know about her job of an accountant in his company. Arnav wants to thank Khushi. Who is the scary woman. Arnav never want to meet the scary woman but their meeting was interesting and surely they will meet again. Waiting for the next part.😍😍

ReplyDeleteThis khushi is hilarious man!!! She is so peculiar and strict. I have no doubt she is gonna be getting on my nerves soon, so can't imagine arnav's state😂. The journey from Arnav and Khushi to Arshi is surely gonna be a ride worth seeing, here.

Awww Khushi... Even though she was mad on Arnav for cursing again & asked him to get down from her scooty, she did sent an auto for him... Such a sweetheart 😘 But she is definitely gonna give hard time to Arnav when he falls flat for her ❤️
