Chapter 42


Chandrika’s POV

“Eem. Bhreem… kreem… naash.. vinaash… kreem..”

“Eem. Bhreem… kreem… naash.. vinaash… kreem..”

“Eem. Bhreem… kreem… naash.. vinaash… kreem..”

“Eem. Bhreem… kreem… naash.. vinaash… kreem..”


I continue humming the spell wearing my regular black attire, sitting before the fire of the devil, and a bowl of blood, my own blood which I had mixed with the image of Arnav Singh Raizada. He is one who is going to bring doom to his own family. I laugh heartily continuing to chant the spell, circling a bone of the remains of Arnav’s twin brother who had died the very night he was born, around the small eight inch statue doll I have created out of Arnav Singh Raizada’s belongings. It was easy.. Very easy to gain his stuff considering he was here with his family in Sheesh Mahal. The Mahal… which I could have ruled had his father chosen me.

With double the anger, I keep chanting the spell again, this time sprinkling some blood from the bowl over the Doll representing Arnav Singh Raizada. The day is not far when on Lunar eclipse, he is forever going to be in my control.

“Hhahahaaa” I laugh aloud feeling thrilled to visualize the condition of the Raizada family when this happens. I couldn’t wait to see their doom. I, Chandrika Awasthy would bring that doom upon them.


The sharp sound of the mobile phone ringing beside me, brings me to halt. It’s Mohan.


“Mohan…” I smile knowing it’s the day of the week where I get to meet my son. No one knows about he being my blood and that would never change.

“I won’t be coming to meet you today, Maa.” He mentions aggravating me.

“What?” I snap. “Why?”

“Because I think the Raizadas are suspicious about me. Today when I left the palace, they followed me. I could dodge them though but if in case they still following me, then I can’t take the risk of meeting you.”


“The Raizadas..” I literally squeeze the black doll representing Arnav. “They will never let us stay in peace. But not anymore. One more week is all we need to begin the real game, Mohan. The game of their end and our beginning.”


He laughs with me.

“Did you find that key?”

“Arnav has found it but I think he doesn't know anything about it yet. He has just kept it in his safe locker in the closet and probably has forgot to tell Khushi about it. I cannot go to their bedroom nor I have the pin of his safe locker to bring that key to you.”


I think for a moment. Arnav has the key which can be the end of whatever magic I have casted on him. Before he hands it over to Khushi and she gets the hint what to do with it, I have to make sure its destroyed.


“Don’t worry about the key. Now that its with Arnav, I know how to make sure we control it too.”

“Maa..” Mohan intrudes. “These Raizadas have killed my father, I want them all dead. Each one of them.”


Yes, I remember that too well. That night when I had been to Sheesh Mahal to blackmail the family and force them to bring me as the bride of Sheesh Mahal, they called my husband, Mohan’s father, there and tried to send me back with him. Seeing him again had shocked me initially but when in the process of snatching the knife from my hand, it pierced his stomach and he died on the spot, it was then that I realized his worth. I always knew he loved me too much to die for me one day and he proved it. But for even bringing him there where he lost his life accidentally, I will never forgive the Raizadas. I would never let them live in peace

“They will die, Mohan. They all will die. That’s why this Lunar eclipse is so important. They are all here in Sheesh Mahal and their doom is affirmed.”


Mohan sighs in relief.

“But for now you have to hide somewhere,” I tell him. “You cannot go back to Sheesh Mahal and pretend everything normal. If they are suspicious on you, they can trap and hurt you.”


He takes my suggestion.


“I will find a place to live until I meet you on the lunar eclipse.”

I agree to his assurance and once the call is disconnected, I continue chanting the spell. The night is still young and I know how to make Arnav destroy the key..


I dip my finger in the bowl of my blood and then draw a key on a plain white paper and then continue chanting the spell, holding the bone of Arnav’s blue-eyed evil twin and Arnav’s black doll in my hand.


“Eem. Bhreem… kreem… naash.. vinaash… kreem..”

Khushi’s POV


The sharp vibration of my phone wakes me up. I quickly realize Arnav is not on bed. We had just made out and I didn’t even realize when I dozed off but where is he now? My phone vibrates again and I realize it’s Akash calling me. He and NK had been out tonight to follow Mohan. Maybe they have got some hint. I answer the call.


“Hello,"

“Bhabhi, we lost Mohan..” Akash informs.

“What?”

“Yes.. We almost followed him for an hour and then we lost him. I don’t think he is ever coming back to Sheesh Mahal as he is suspicious, we are following him.”

“Hey Devi Maiyaa,” I yelp. “What… what will we do now?”

“I don’t know. Me and NK will keep looking for him and let you know. What is Bhai doing? Is he okay?”

“He is not on bed. I don’t know where he is. Let me go find him.”

“Okay.. Don’t go to the basement alone. Take Daadi along.”


I simply agree though I know I would never disturb Daadi at this odd hour. I get down the bed and with the help of the phone torch light, I make my way out.


I keep looking for Arnav everywhere in Sheesh Mahal. It’s midnight. Where can he go at this hour? Should I alarm the family? Maybe I should. Collectively we can find him quickly. I am about to take a turn towards Daadi’s room when I hear some faint voices from the basement. As if someone is whispering. I had always heard such voices during midnight even before. Who is there at basement now?


I give up the idea of waking up others and make my way down to the basement. The light of the basement room is glowing. It’s a rough unsteady light as if of fire. I can even see fumes coming out from the door. Someone is definitely in there. I quickly hide behind the door to see who is inside and my breath hitches.



The sight of Arnav in a black attire doing the rituals of black magic, chanting mantras that I don’t even think he’s ever heard of, skips my heartbeat. I know it is not my husband, but Chandrika who has been controlling his mind and body to complete the black magic rituals which I know can be threatening to him and this family.


I shut my mouth with my palm to hold my sobs as it really hurts to see my husband in this state. He has no idea what he is doing and how toxic it is for him and his family. I lower my gaze on the item he picks from before him not in his conscious mind and my heart skips a beat. It’s the key I have been looking for. The one which my mother gave me. Oh my God. Arnav is going to put it inside that fire and burn it. No way I am letting that happen. It’s the only clue to all the spell that’s casted upon him and I will do anything to ensure its safe. Even if it means I have to fight back my husband in his evil form.
