Chapter 67

Mumbai – One month later


Khushi returned to her Vanity Van after finishing the last shot of the day. The past four weeks she had a very hectic schedule but it still felt smooth because she had a supportive husband with her. Arnav Singh Raizada had shifted with her in the Mumbai Villa these four weeks. When she left for shoots, he managed his work Online with Aman, Akash and Raunak who recently joined the Company and was learning very fast. Shyam was still a busy politician but this weekend he and Anjali were in Mumbai to visit the IVF center which Khushi had suggested them a month ago.

She changed her outfit and that’s when the vanity door knocked.

“Come in” she shouted from inside.

“Hey beautiful”

Khushi was surprised to see Arnav on her shoots.

“No way!!” she strode to him. “what brings my husband here?”

Arnav scanned her Van. 

“Thought I would pick you up today” he reached her and kissed her cheek. This one gesture from him had never changed. Whenever she returned home after shoots, the first thing he would do was kiss her. “How do you change here? Isn’t it too small?” he asked.. 

“I just don’t change here.. I even rest during my free time and there’s a shower cabin too at the end”

Arnav wasn’t impressed.

“It’s what the production could afford” she added. “Its fine with me. I am happy”

“I am not” he growled. “Even the locks of this Van are broken. Anyone could sneak inside, anytime”

“About that.. I have complained. I”

“You wont be using this Van from tomorrow” he declared.

“Arnav..” she eyed him. “I thought we would never argue over my work commitments again”

“I have no problem with your work. I just want you to feel safe”

Khushi frowned. However right he sounded, she had no idea how he would rectify the situation. Arnav removed his phone and dialed someone.

“I need a brand-new Vanity Van for my wife. Get me a brochure of the best ones with all the amenities inside. Should be spacious too and I need a full-time driver and cleaner to take care of it”

Khushi’s jaw dropped as she heard him place this order. The moment he finished, she debated.

“You cannot be serious. It will be way too expensive and I am not a very big celebrity yet to own my own Vanity”


Arnav stroked her cheeks.


“You are a celebrity for me and I want to give you the best. Never gifted you a wedding present”

Khushi giggled.

“Wedding present? So late?”

Arnav scooped her in his arms.

“Is this Van soundproof” he nibbled her ear.

“Shut up” she kept giggling. “We have a dinner with your two brothers and their respective partners”

“She is right” Aman replied standing at the door, surprising them. “Cannot even ask you guys to get a room!! You are too cute when you openly romance like this… anywhere… anytime”


Arnav picked the cushion and threw it on his brother. Aman caught it before it could hit him.


“Bad throw Bro”

“Yea?” Arnav left his wife. “Come here .. My punches are bad too”

Khushi quickly brushed her hair.

“Guys!! Let’s go. Avni, Anjali and Shyam must be waiting at the restaurant”

Shyam and Anjali had visited the IVF center and they had got some good hopes from the Doctors after clearing all the tests. Tomorrow they were leaving back for Shantivan only to return to Mumbai as necessary for the future appointments. Since the news was good, the brothers decided to celebrate it together. Avni was here too for her weekend. After her engagement to Aman which was four weeks ago, she made sure to spend her weekends in Mumbai. Daadi and the entire Raizada family had met Avni’s father to proceed with the marriage talks.

“I wish Akash and Payal were here too” Khushi said sipping her soft drink after reaching the restaurant.

“They are already on a hot seat” Anjali mentioned. “Daadi is very excited to welcome her first great grandchild”

“And Akash…” Shyam intruded. “He has read so many child care books already that you ask him any query about babies and he will have an answer”


Both the couples laughed heartily but the third couple were busy whispering something to each other and in their own world.


“It’s high time we get these two married”

Arnav’s tone was loud enough to interrupt their secret talks.

“Bro.. Sorry. I was just asking her where she would like to go on a honeymoon” Aman replied.

Avni pinched his thigh.

“No.. .He is lying.. I was telling him about the new technology I recently learnt about…” Avni bit her lip.

Aman slid his arm around his fiancée.

“You look cute when you shy”

Arnav and Shyam rolled their eyes and glanced back at their respective wives.

“I can only imagine how much you both have to tolerate seeing every weekend” Shyam mocked at Arnav and Khushi.

“Excuse me? What about the weekdays when I am the one tolerating these two love birds cozying up everywhere?”


Khushi blushed.

“Can we all stop discussing about romance for now?” Anjali muttered. “I am worried of Daadi. She is alone at Shantivan today”

Khushi knew that too because Akash and Payal were spending this weekend with her parents in Gupta Mansion. Her father was a changed man now and was impatient to pamper his daughters. Since he couldn’t disturb Khushi’s work schedule, he had invited Payal and Akash.

“Daadi is not alone. We have Raunak there” Arnav answered.

“That’s right” Shyam agreed and I just spoke to him before coming here. You know he and Daadi have movie plans tonight. I cannot believe that’s Raunak!!”

“Right” Anjali agreed. “He is mending his ways of life and we should be thankful to his psychologist. Has anyone seen her?”

“I am so eager to meet her and thank her myself” Khushi replied.

“I heard she is beautiful and has dimples” Aman informed.

Avni was suddenly jealous.

“Really? Who told you that?”

“Daadi. She told me Raunak speaks to her about his Psychologist and their sessions”

Everyone of them were stunned how to process that information. Raunak was very secretive in nature but he was bonding well with Daadi which he missed all these years. It was a positive change in him.

“Which means we should invite her in Aman’s wedding” Arnav declared.

“By all means” Shyam and Aman raised their glasses to toast.

A call on Khushi’s mobile interrupted their moment.


“It’s Dad” she quickly took the call. “Hey Dad.. how is it going with your daughter and Son-in-law?” she teased.


Her expressions turned from teasing to seriousness.

“What? Now? Okay… We.. we will reach soon.. bye”

She disconnected the call.

“Payal might deliver the baby tonight. We have to leave”

“Tonight? But…” Arnav stood up with the rest of them. Shyam quickly settled the bill.

“I know it’s one week early.. but it happens. They are taking her to the hospital”

“I will inform Daadi and Raunak” Avni fished for her phone and dialed.

“Let me inform the Pilot to get the Jet ready” Aman rushed out.

Their coordination was perfect and within next 3 hours they had landed back to Delhi and drove straight to the Hospital. Shashi Gupta, Garima, Daadi and Raunak were already there and they gave them the good news.

“It’s a baby girl” Garima informed.

Khushi hugged her mother, congratulated Daadi and then rushed to meet her sister. Akash was holding his little daughter whereas Payal was lying on the bed watching her bundle of joy.


“Congratulations Mommy” Khushi teased reaching her sister. “How was the experience?”

“Good” Payal shied. “But horrible too.. except the part when I finally saw her..”

“Aww.”

Everyone entered the room. After Akash, it was Daadi who got the chance to hold her great granddaughter. Then was the turn of Uncle and aunt starting from the youngest one – Aman and Avni.. Aman was busy picking names for her whereas Avni was consciously holding the baby in her arms. Shyam and Anjali had tears in eyes when they held the baby but this time, they were more than hopeful that they would get their share of this happiness too soon. Raunak was confused if he had to hold the baby or not. He thought he was too rough to handle a child. He stroked the baby’s cheeks instead when Shyam had held her. And then came the turn of the eldest Uncle and Aunt. Khushi cuddled the baby and kissed her forehead.

“She is so pretty” Khushi mumbled.

“Just like you..” Arnav added. “Like a princess”

Khushi’s face glowed. Princess!!

“I want a Princess like her too..” she whispered to him.

“Very soon” he grinned snuggling both Khushi and the baby to him.

Six months later

It was a big occasion for the Royals. It was Aman and Avni’s wedding. The entire family was busy entertaining the guests while the just married couple were taking blessings and wishes from friends and relatives. Arnav and Khushi had hosted this reception party and had no time to even look at each other. Despite that they kept stealing glances. How could he miss when his wife was in a Red designer Saree, the one which he selected for her specially for this event?

“Bhai” Akash came to Arnav with crying Palak in his arms. They had named their baby Palak which was Arnav and Khushi’s choice. Their baby’s name selection was done in a unique way. Each couple of the Royal Raizadas had decided on a name and wrote on a chit. Daadi picked one chit and it happened to be the name which Arnav and Khushi had decided.

“What happened?” Arnav focused back on his brother and niece.

“Payal is busy with the Priest and I have to go check the other preps. Would you mind watching Palak for 10 minutes? I don’t find anyone else”

Arnav happily took the responsibility. He scooped Palak in his warmth and she instantly stopped crying.

“Wow Bhai.. You look already trained for this”

“Got to be..!!” Arnav smirked. “Our family is soon going to turn bigger and bigger. The sooner we all learn to handle kids, the easier it would be for us”

Akash laughed nodding in agreement. Anjali had recently shared her pregnancy news with the family. Shyam was already on top of the world. He had won the recent elections and was now preparing to take over the role of Chief Minister of the State which once used to be Shashi Gupta’s dream who had now retired from the Governors position to give time to his wife and family.


“Brothers” Shyam joined them. “Did anyone see Raunak? I don’t find him anywhere”

Anjali took Palak from Arnav’s arms and put her to sleep.

“No idea. I had seen him when Aman and Avni were taking the Pheras. Not after that”

“What are you all doing here?” Daadi and Payal joined the group. “We have to begin the Bidaai soon”

“Aman is very excited. He cannot wait to reach home” Arnav mentioned.

“Truly said Bro” Aman said joining the family. He and Avni finally got time to talk to their family apart from the guests. “When is the Bidaai happening? I am so sleeping you know”

“Sleepy?” Akash teased. “If that’s so, there is no point in taking Avni home with us tonight. Let her go back with her father, we can call her to Shantivan when you wake up tomorrow morning”

“No ways” Aman cuddled Avni before everyone. “She is going nowhere. She is mine..”

“aww….” Khushi reached them. “What is with Romance and Raizada brothers?”

Daadi cleared her throat while the other three couples shared a few passionate glances to their partners.

“Great you are all together” Raunak happily shouted making his way to the family.

“There he is” Arnav sighed. “Where had you been Raunak? We were all looking for you”

“I am sorry. She lost her way so I had to go out and guide her the way to this event”

“She?” Daadi queried.

Raunak shied but the next moment he turned behind and stretched his arm to invite someone. A tall beautiful dimpled girl walked to the group and soon stood next to Raunak, smiling at the family.

“She is Lavanya Kshyap” he introduced. “And… Uh… I want to marry her”

“Pheww” Aman and Akash screamed in relief. “Finally Raunak.. You are on the right track”

Lavanya took Daadi’s blessings and met the rest of the family members. She knew almost everyone because she had heard about them all from Raunak in the past few months.

“One more wedding then..” Arnav patted Raunak’s back and hugged him. “Congratulations Bro.. You both make a lovely pair”

“I know” Raunak smiled admiring Lavanya who was busy discussing her family with Daadi and the other Raizada women.

“Welcome to the Raizada clan” Khushi greeted Lavanya.

“Thank you. I hope I will be able to handle the Royal tag and the role of a Royal Bahu well. Makes me nervous already”

“Don’t be. We all have gone through this but trust me… it becomes a lot easier when you have a supportive husband and such a fabulous family to back each other” Khushi replied.

Soon the family dispersed. Daadi took Raunak and Lavanya to introduce Lavanya to some of their close relatives. Arnav curled his arms around Khushi’s waist and pulled her closer.


“I don’t know if I should be proud that my wife is handling her Royal Eldest Bahu duties so well or be angry that she has no time for me amidst all this” he complained.

Khushi exhaled softly.

“I know you were neglected past few days..”

“And nights” his grip tightened around her waist.

“Yes. Nights too” she giggled. “I am ready to compensate for it”

He leaned closer, aiming for her lips.

“I.. I have asked Millie to postpone my next shoots by one more week”

Arnav was overjoyed. Khushi had signed a few good contracts which could elevate her career graph and she was super excited with each of that project. She was an excellent actress and she also had learnt the knack of handling both her personal and professional lives which meant she wasn’t juggling anymore to give her best to both.

“Then I am taking you out..” he declared instantly.

“Out?”

“Hmm.. Somewhere where no family… no shoots.. no calls and no work disturbs us” he finally kissed her but the kiss was quick because they didn’t want to flaunt a show to their guests.

“Take me anywhere Mr. Royal Singh Raizada.. I am all yours” she wiped the color of her gloss from his lips and winking at him, she finally made her way back to the guests.

Arnav smiled as she left. Each day with his wife Khushi Singh Raizada was like a new chance, new happiness and infinite bliss. When he married her, all he had was a broken family, jealous brothers and guilt in his heart for not being able to patch his family into a happy one. But it all changed when she came in his life… She was a sign that he was waiting for.. a puzzle of hope, love and unity which he connected together and unleashed the power of mending his family into one again.
