Chapter 24
Arnav’s POV
I re-watch the CCTV footage, the one where Soham self-electrocutes himself. As Khushi told me last night that he had some encounter with that blue-eyed version of me, which made him do so, this video shows no such evidence. One thing is clear though. He seemed to be out of his own control when he turned on the fuse. If he was conscious enough to do this there would be some sign of hesitation or fear on his face which was absent. Definitely he was under some spell effect.
“Bhai?” Akash knocks the door and I nod allowing him to come inside. Along with him is Nandakishore too. “Is this the right time to talk?” Akash adds seeing my stern expressions.

Definitely he was under some spell effect.
“Bhai?” Akash knocks the door and I nod allowing him to come inside. Along with him is Nandakishore too. “Is this the right time to talk?” Akash adds seeing my stern expressions.
Before I can respond, NK speaks.
“Akash, doesn't matter what Nannav’s mood is, it will surely lit up when he hears what you.”
I can sense some mischief in my brother’s eyes which piques my curiosity.
“What do you want to speak about?”
Akash takes a chair opposite to mine and NK joins beside him. Today morning, I came to the office, away from Sheesh Mahal to focus on work. Last night after knowing Khushi had defied me and though I forgave her, she didn’t mention she will follow all my promises henceforth is what bothered me. I had declared not to touch her until she gave me that promise. Though she was upset that I took such a decision, I didn’t take back my words. The only thing I want is Khushi’s safety. The more she gets involved in this matter, she might be hurt and that’s the last thing I want. Even today morning I left for work before she woke up so that my wife takes this matter seriously. I haven’t replied to her morning text yet where she asked me why I left early without waking her up. It’s hard to stay away from her or not speaking to her for long but this is the only way to make her see the seriousness of this matter.
“Bhai? Are you listening?” Akash’s voice brings back my attention on my brothers.
“Yea. What were you saying?”
“Your honeymoon Bhai. Did you think about it??”
Honeymoon? I swallow hard. Though the very thought of spending some time alone with Khushi, away from the family and everything else that still separates us, I can’t.
“See, I told you Akash. Nannav hasn’t thought about it yet. He is so busy at work that nothing else goes in his head right now.” NK comments.
“C’mon guys. Why do you care about my honeymoon so much? I’ll go when I have to go. For now, all this issues at Delhi office needs my attention.”
“Bhai, there is no point in going for a honeymoon months after your marriage. This is the right time,” Akash argues. “And don’t worry about other issues, I will handle it with NK.”
“I agree” NK adds.
How can I tell my brothers that this is not possible for now as I have declared not to touch Khushi until she promises to keep herself safe and aloof from this matter? So for now I give them some excuse.
“I’ll think about it and come up with something.”
“No No. We have already come up with the best idea, Bhai. And considering your work, you don’t even have to step out of Sheesh Mahal.”
“What do you mean?”
“Means.. you don’t have to go anywhere nor Khushi Bhabhi. We are taking the family out.. To Delhi… Did you forget we have a mansion ‘Shantivan’ there too?”
I nod. Yes, we do have a mansion there.
“But why will the family agree to go Shantivan?”
“For a few days.. As a family trip and we’ll make sure we don’t disturb you for 2 -3 days at least. Likewise me and NK will also see the missing work in Delhi Office and report you straight. So work also will keep happening side by side. How’s the plan?”
I think for a minute. It is obvious I don’t want to move from Sheesh Mahal for a while until this mystery is resolved but sending the family away and letting Khushi stay alone in the mansion is another risk. Especially because she is too stressed with the thought of keeping me safe. Maybe I could work from the basement office for these 2 -3 days then. So I can keep a watch on my wife and also make sure she promises me what I need to hear from her.
“Done.. Who is speaking to the family then?” I query, enthusiastically.
“Akash..” NK points. “And I will make sure they don’t reject this idea.. We should be starting by tomorrow evening..”
I nod in agreement. Tomorrow evening then!!

Khushi’s POV
I keep stirring the kheer which I am cooking for the family. Seems Arnav loves this Kheer and I wanted to surprise him. So, despite Daadi telling me not to cook, I still took this chance of making Kheer for everyone. But my mind is elsewhere. Already whatever Soham told me was haunting my head, that I saw the blue-eyed version of my husband in my bedroom and now even my husband is not speaking to me properly until I promise him to keep myself away from this matter. He has even declared not to touch me until then which is annoying. The whole idea of me agreeing to marry him was to protect him and if he doesn't let me work on it, how will I do so? Whatever happens, I am not going to let him win this argument.
“Khushi?” Anjali di comes in the kitchen, diverting my attention to her. “The kheer is ready?”
“Almost..” I nod checking the consistency of the Kheer and turn off the gas stove.
“Good. Arnav is back home with the rest of the boys. They are coming down and once we finish dinner, we shall begin the old tapes. You’ll be happy to see our young days..”
I smile. It’s true that I want to be introduced to their younger version but more than that I want to find the hidden secret of the basement where this accident with Soham happened.
An hour later, Arnav comes down and the dining room and that’s when I see him. He doesn't return my smile which makes me furious. But I don’t let him ignore me longer. I take my seat next to him and begin to eat.
“How was your day at work?” I ask, purposely before the family so that he doesn't ignore me.
“Good” he answers. Finally. But I know he is not going to elaborate his replies.
I place my arm on his thigh and Arnav’s body stiffens. He gives me a stare but I make no attempt to take my hand off him. He continues to eat seeing me adamant to do anything about it and lets me keep my hand there.
During the dinner I come to know that the family has plans to go to Delhi tomorrow evening but Arnav has some work which is why he and I will stay back here in sheesh Mahal. The sudden idea of staying alone with him in Sheesh Mahal brings some flashes in my head and they are so intense that I stop eating and shut my eyes.
“Khushi?” Arnav pats my cheeks.. “Khushi open your eyes..”
I open my eyes slowly, my body still shivering. Arnav pulls me to him and gives me a tight hug.
“Tum theek ho?”
I scan the place. We are in bedroom. When did we come here? We were eating downstairs, weren’t we?
Arnav pulls back from the hug and cups my face.
“You fainted while eating.. So I got you here.. what happened?”
I swallow painfully knowing I might have fainted because whatever I saw down there while eating were premonitions.
“Don’t let the family go anywhere… please…” I beg.
“Why?”
“Just don’t … It is not safe for you to be alone here in Sheesh Mahal.”
“Khushi what are you talking about?”
“I got some premonitions again.. while dinner. That when there is no one home and… I saw you all covered in blood at the basement.. unconscious and cold..”
I grip his arms tighter.
“Don’t let the family go. They are your strength. You are stronger when they are around.. please..”
Arnav looks at me in disbelief so I shake him hard.
“You know I get these premonitions Arnav and they are true.”
“If they are true then whatever happens, with or without the family, it doesn't matter. It will turn true.”
“no.. You don’t understand..”
“Sssshhh” he cups my face and kisses my forehead. “Nothing will happen to me, know why? Because I have you beside me. And most importantly I even have this Raksha Dhaaga on my wrist which you tied. I don’t need to worry about anything Khushi..”
He won’t understand this so I drag his palm and place it on my head.
“You are not letting the family go anywhere… not until I am assured you are safe in Sheesh Mahal..”
Arnav grits his teeth.
“Then this promise applies to both of us, Khushi. I am equally worried of your safety.. Until I am assured you are safe, and not risking your life, you too wouldn’t do anything going against my words..”
Since this is the only way to make him agree to my demands, I promise him.
“I promise” I nod and his smile is back. He pulls me closer and hugs me tight. The door knock breaks our moment and I quickly put some distance from Arnav when Anjali enters the room. She is here to check if I am doing alright and once affirmed, I am fine, she invites us to see the videos of their childhood.

ReplyDeleteEager to know about the videos.
Arnav loves Khushi very much though he was ignoring Khushi but still can't stay apart from her. Khushi's premonition was scary. Both Arshi want each other's safety. Khushi is right the family is Arnav's strength and the evil can't harm him in their presence. Hope Arnav stop the family. Khushi may get some clue from the video. And I am eager to read what Arnav is going to do next with Khushi in RINHS3 to make her realise her mistake.

ReplyDeleteAwesome update
ReplyDeleteSuperb written
ReplyDeleteFabulous update. Looks like another dangerous evil moment is waiting for them.
ReplyDeleteStory getting very mysterious and interesting.
So Khushi had to finally promise him. I really wanted to see Khushi winning an argument. They love each other so much and it's understandable that both want to protect each other. But how come Khushi is not his strength? Is Khushi his weakness? If Khushi's premonition thing goes away if they consummated then it's better if they don't. So Khushi can be prepared for the worst. Arnav still doesn't believe all this. So I hope that something happens so he see the evil and understand the seriousness of this situation. Let's see. Waiting for the next chapter. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHope khushi get some clue in that video
ReplyDeleteSuperb
ReplyDeleteBoth Arnav and Khushi love each other so much and worried for each other, but I think Arnav should get serious about this. Hope Khushi will find something in that old videos
ReplyDeleteVery happy to see that Khushi was adamant in not promising. The reason she gave was exactly what I thought and commented about in the previous post. But at the end she had to promise. Though I fully understand that Arnav wants Khushi safe, he still doesn't seem to understand the gravity of the situation or Khushi's seriousness in it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful fabulous update dear
ReplyDeleteI hope the promises to each other are kept intact. I have this uneasy feeling that one of them will be forced to break it and this will lead to something bad. I am also beginning to wonder if this will be one of those plots like your older story Madhu where the soul for whatever reason is left behind and is going to attack Kushi through Arnav himself. I don't know why I am rambling on when clearly you are the story teller and me the reader. Great update as always.
ReplyDeleteLovely update
