He Loves Me Not - Part 50

Chapter 50

Shantivan

The Envelope lay beside her, opened and read. Revati Raizada’s hands trembled to pick the letter again. The club presidentship. She got it!! After all these years of yearning, she got it and yet, she was not happy. Why not? Why is she not getting that blissful feeling anymore? She could lead the club, her way and no one would have the audacity to turn her decisions down. All her friends will bestow her with praises for this honor. Which friends? The ones whom she asked to get lost forever? Her face turned bitter recalling them. They were better off her life. All they cared was her classy parties, gossips and the money she spent on keeping them by her side. No. She didn’t want those friends anymore. She wants her family – her husband.
She misses him and God knows she loves him irrevocably. It is just that she doesn’t conform to his decisions sometimes – like the one he took years ago to adopt Arnav. She was so against of it. They had fought for 2 days before she gave him the approval. Ayush had lied to her about Arnav’s identity all these years. And she could now relate why he would have done so. He was protecting Arnav from everyone, including her. All Arnav deserved was little affection from her. He wanted them to treat him as one of their own and what did she do? She always considered him an outsider. Despite giving the best of life in this house, she had never made him feel this place as his real home. She liked when people praised her for being generous in adopting a child. She enjoyed the respect which the University lecturers gave her when they discussed how brilliant Arnav was in the curriculum. She felt honored when he took the reins of the AR Group and grabbed big projects by his hard work. He gave her all sorts of happiness in these years and what did she do? She considered him as her pay check for the Club presidentship. She fixed his marriage with Sheetal Mathur despite knowing the two were incompatible for each other. All she wanted was Sheetal to use her Veto power and give her the Club presidentship to lead. Even for once she didn’t read what Arnav was going through from within. She used him as a commodity. He kept calling her “Mom” and she treated him like a stranger. She cursed him for breaking engagement with Sheetal. And after his identity was revealed she didn’t have to push him away, he just left!! He left this house, this city, this country, he left them!! That boy didn’t deserve any of this. He deserved being loved which he always yearned for and she never cared to give. And today, that same boy has made her wish come true. He bought the entire club for making her president of that Club? How much more was he going to do for them without expecting anything in return? This was called selflessness and today he made her feel so low of herself that she could never meet his eyes again. NEVER!!

She pushed the envelope away and strode out of the room.

Paris

Their kiss had a spark today probably because of the location and the tranquility around. The temple of love was beyond mesmerizing and had evoked their sensual nerves, wanting this moment to stay forever. When Khushi pulled away from Arnav, she looked drowsy and totally irresistible. He had felt the need to kiss her right from the time they had started for this place. The boat ride to reach this temple had been the most romantic part of this trip.

“You know what I think?” she asked him wrapping her arms around his neck.

Arnav played with her waist, rubbing her gently.

“I think we should stay here for like forever” she added.

Arnav’s lips widen for a smirk as his hold on her waist tightened.

“And you know what I am thinking right now?” he asked. “Let’s get married here” he murmured.

There was an unforgettable joy on her face for his proposition.

“I wish that too” she replied. “Had I been that same teenage girl who fell for your charms years ago, I would have readily agreed to your marriage idea. But love doesn’t work that way, does it? We are so bound to our families, attached to their wishes that we keep our desires at the backseat for a while. We will marry when Dad gives my hand in yours, Arnav. And I know he gradually will”

She was getting emotional right now while explaining this to him. He pressed a soft kiss to her temple and pulled her close.

“That day isn’t far. I promise” he whispered.

*****************

The flight back from Paris to London wasn’t very pleasing because they both wouldn’t be able to spend such ample of time together. He would get busy in work and she in welcoming her Father and Buaji back and then resuming on her job. But they had so many memories to cherish until they get to stay together, forever.

Arnav drove from the Airport to drop Khushi till her apartment. He had informed Aman and his father about their arrival and asked them to be in AK Villa where he would see them soon after dropping Khushi.

“I will go from here” she said getting down the car and pulled her bags.

“Of course not. I am seeing you off till your apartment door”

She giggled.

“Don’t think I am going to let you inside the house. Enough of all the romance we did in the past few hours”

He followed her to the elevator, dragging her bags along.

“Not even a goodbye kiss?” he teased.

“Nope” she blushed. At Paris she was so open to these gestures but as they are back, she is hesitating. After all they are surrounded by people who know their faces here.

They got inside the elevator and soon reached the floor of Khushi’s apartment. Khushi pulled out the keys from her bags and was about to punch it on the door when somebody opened it from inside. She jerked back in shock to see her father standing before her, holding the door knob.

“dad?” she stuttered. He came back? When? Why didn’t he inform her?

Arnav was equally tensed that Shashi Gupta was back and probably the way he looked at the two proved he knew where they had been.

“What happened Khushi?” Shashi asked. “You don’t look happy that I am back”

Khushi swallowed the ache formed in her throat.

“Sorry both of you if we have screwed your next plans” he added.

Khushi looked down, tears sprung in her eyes.

“Mr. Gupta” Arnav interjected. He wouldn’t stay quiet here.

“Uh. Wait a minute” Shashi stopped him from speaking further. “I don’t want the neighbors to know our family problems. So, why don’t you both get inside and talk”

Shashi moved aside letting the two enter. Khushi was extremely nervous. She looked at Buaji who had the same frown on her face.

“We came last night” Madhumati informed. “We thought of giving you a surprise. Who knew we would be shocked instead knowing you were off to Paris with him”

“Jeeji” Shashi poked her in between. “It’s okay. You don’t have to explain her all this. She is not going to understand”

“Enough” Arnav spat angrily. “Your frustration is totally acceptable right now but you don’t have to take it out on Khushi. It was my idea to go to Paris. I wanted to propose her for marriage, officially and spend some time with her. Obviously, she didn’t want to come without informing you but I forced her not to. I knew you would deny”

“Yes, I would have denied. Not because I don’t trust my daughter but because I don’t trust you. All these years she was begging for your attention which she never got. You broke her and now suddenly when things between you and your family aren’t going well, you need her back? As a support? How selfish is that Arnav Singh Raizada?”

Arnav clenched his jaw. Khushi was about to defend it but Arnav didn’t let her do. He clutched her wrist to stop her.

“If I am selfish now, what are you doing Mr. Gupta?” Arnav snapped. This was getting out of hand now. Khushi wanted Arnav’s next meet with her father to be more concrete but it wasn’t turning out that way.

“What do you mean?” Shashi groaned.

“You know your daughter loves me and I am very sure you have realized how much serious I am about her. Why being adamant still? Let her take the decisions of her life”

“You..” Shashi pointed a finger at Arnav’s face. “You won’t tell me what I have to do with my daughter. If you are such a well wisher of hers, where were you when she was undergoing a therapy to chuck you out of her life? 3 months Arnav, for 3 months she had almost succeeded in doing so and then suddenly you came here and spoiled all her plans? You and your love make her weak. Why don’t you let my daughter live in peace?”

Arnav was thunderstruck. Therapy? 3 months? Which therapy? He turned around to gaze back at Khushi but the way she was hiding her tears from him, it proved her father wasn’t lying. Khushi herself was shocked that her father got to know this. She had so many questions right now.

“You were seeing a counselor?” Arnav asked Khushi who looked all pale and nervous. “Answer me dammit” he growled.

“Don’t shout at her” Shashi interrupted again.

“Dad please” Khushi joined her palms, weeping. “Please don’t do this”

“No, he is right” Arnav snapped. “He is right Khushi. He will definitely be mad at me if this is what you had been trying to do with yourself. You were on the verge of pushing me away and I intruded your plans”

“Arnav… stop” she pleaded.

He gripped her forearms and pulled her closer.

“Why didn’t you tell me this? I had the right to know”

“I am sorry.. .I knew you would feel hurt”

“I am hurt dammit” he shouted but softly this time, ensuring he doesn’t scare her off.

Shashi froze seeing their affection for each other, that too so openly before him. He couldn’t just separate them somehow.

“I undergone a therapy, took medicines because I needed them. They helped me relax when I was hyper frustrated. I wanted you out of my life, my mind and heart forever and these medicines helped me to relax myself when I strongly wanted to return back to you, beg you for accepting my love. It helped me Arnav to fight my weak days. That’s all”

That’s all? He couldn’t imagine what she might have gone through. Khushi noticed the guilt on his face and quickly palmed his cheek. She didn’t want him to feel responsible for this.

“I am done with them.. I don’t take them anymore. You are my cure Arnav. I had waited for you so many years, I shouldn’t have given up on you ever. I should have waited for some more time, shown that hope of you returning back to me because that’s what happened. You came here.. you won be back Arnav. And this time.. forever. I don’t need anything else but you.”

Shashi shut his eyes. There was nothing left to argue after this statement from his daughter. She was madly in love with Arnav. No one could change that. Arnav relaxed at her reply. He palmed her cheek and wiped off the tears from her eyes. It felt like Shashi and Buaji never existed around them. As if they were alone.. The next moment Khushi realized her father watching them. Arnav gently let her come off his grip and faced Shashi Gupta again.

“All these years she has suffered because of me, this is one chance I have got to make her happy, to keep her safe and loved forever. Don’t snatch that from us” Arnav requested.

Shashi took a deep sigh.

“I will talk to your father tomorrow. I know he is here to meet me. I will speak to him about your proposal.”

Khushi was happy that her father at least agreed to meet Ayush Raizada and think over Arnav’s marriage proposal.

“I would insist you all to come and have dinner with us tomorrow then. At AK Villa” Arnav mentioned.

Shashi turned to his sister to know if she agreed to this. Madhumati gently nodded.

“Okay, we will be there”

“Thank you, Dad” Khushi instantly hugged her father who didn’t complete the hug for a minute but later gave up. He hugged her back and couldn’t let his daughter sulk further. If this is what she wants, so be it. He is ready to bend for her love.

Excerpt

“Such a royal discomfort” she murmured to herself.

“Indeed” he replied. “Wish you had a decent weight”

“Excuse me? I was the slimmest girl in my college”

“And how long was that? 10 years?”

She cursed something inaudible. How dare he teased her about her age?

“I am just 22. And let me guess, you are 35?”

He halted.

“45” he lied. “Does that satisfy your ego now?”

She wanted to argue further but when he lied his age to that extent, she couldn’t help but laugh.

“45? Hmmm” she mumbled. “Is this your wig then?” she touched his hair.

“Stop touching my hair. I don’t like it”

“As if I am dying to touch them” she frowned again and looked away from his face.

  2. Awesome Update.Revati Raizada is finally craving for family and realising Arnav's worth. She could have given Arnav the warmth and love of a mother not that she didn't enjoyed Arnav's achievements but also used him. Now she is all alone and regretting . Arshi's romance is at peak. Arnav's proposal for marriage is too cute but Khushi maturely made him understand family's value. Shashi Gupta's concern as a father is understood but he was a little rude and he revealed about Khushi's therapy made Arnav feel guilty but Khushi's information made Arnav calm. Khushi's love finally won. Now looking forward to Ayush Shashi meet.
