Chapter 58 (Last Part)



Gupta Office


Khushi leaned back on her chair, glancing at the Projector screen where her brother Nandakishore was explaining the statistics of their Project. He was working on this from past few weeks and without her help. NK’s focus on their Business had considerably increased and he was just not doing it for assisting her, but he looked really interested in taking their Company to a new level and this is exactly what she had dreamed of some day.


“That’s all for today gentleman and my beautiful Sister” he remarked ending the conference. “Let me know if you have doubts, we can go over this once again and if we are all on the same page, lets sign the deal. It’s going to give us enough profits for the next one year”


Khushi looked at everyone who were part of this meeting. They were impressed and convinced with the presentation and the data explained by NK. After everyone gave their inputs and left back to continue their work, Khushi stood up. NK was busy shutting down his Laptop. 

“Good work Kishu” She clapped. “Wonderful presentation and apt analysis.”

“Trying to walk on your footsteps Khush. I hope I can handle the Company like you someday”


She grinned.

“Very interested to push me out of Gupta Empire?”

“That’s never happening but yeah, I am very eager to push you to Shantivan forever, in the arms of the man you love”


A wickedly intense pleasure surged in her body at the recollection of last few memories she had made with Arnav Singh Raizada. Their marriage date was fixed for next month and ever since she had returned back on Lavanya’s baby shower, which was a month ago, she and Arnav had spent enough time, making love to each other in every possible way. Marriage was just going to be a formality now and they were patiently waiting for the same. They wanted their marriage to happen after Lavanya’s delivery so that she too gets enough time to heal and then participate in the rituals.


“Someone is blushing” NK teased, bringing her back to reality.

“I don’t blush”

She collected her Laptop and smartphone from the desk.

“ASR told me he is taking you out for dinner tonight” NK added walking out with her.

“Hmm. Might reach home late”


They had been meeting every alternate day for dinners which obviously extended beyond. Khushi Gupta had never lost her control over anything so far except with Arnav. Just last week Arnav had demanded something totally contradictory to her personality. He wanted her to dance for him and she had clearly rejected his plea. Putting a private dance show for a man was not her forte. She couldn’t imagine herself dancing on some Bollywood item song and seducing her lover. Never!! Arnav Singh Raizada was insatiable. His desires and expectations from his life partner were uncountable. She wondered if this was his case before marriage, what would he make her do after?


NK’s phone rang, once again breaking her stance.

“It’s Nani” he said before answering. “Yes Nani”

He paused his steps and so did Khushi seeing the worry on his face.

“We are on our way. Is La okay?”


Khushi knew what the call was about. Lavanya was on her 9th month of pregnancy already. She could deliver any day now. Probably, that day had come. NK disconnected the call, his face drained.

“She’s got labor pains. Nani has taken her to the hospital. ASR is on way”


Khushi dragged her feet with NK as they headed out.

City Hospital


When Khushi and NK reached the hospital, Lavanya was already taken in the labor room for delivery.


“ASR.. how is she?” NK rushed to Arnav who was standing before the ICU with Nani, waiting for the doctor’s update.

“She is fine. Let’s wait for the news”

“I have to be with her in there..” NK insisted. “I … I had promised her”


Khushi’s throat ached as she saw the restlessness on her brother’s face. Soon, Arnav talked to the doctors and NK was allowed to change and was taken inside. Nani prayed constantly whereas Arnav paced around the area, waiting for the positive update. It was Khushi who stopped him and dragged him to the bench. He looked stressed and tensed. Obviously, she too was worried but she didn’t let that worry weaken the people around her. She wanted to be their strength.


“She will be fine, Arnav. She is strong”

“I know” he swallowed pressing her hand.

She stroked his back as they both waited patiently for the good news. After an hour, the Doctor came out, followed by NK who looked utterly thrilled ad happy.


“It’s a boy” he exclaimed. “It’s a baby boy”


Khushi reached him and gave NK a tight hug.

“Congrats, Kishu Daddy” she mocked. “How’s Lavanya?”

“She is fine. They will clean the baby and soon we will get to see them both”

Arnav was next to hug NK who then took blessings from Nani too. The doctors allowed two people at a time to meet the mother and baby. Obviously, NK had to go first and they sent Nani along with him. Arnav and Khushi patiently waited for their chance to come.

“I was just thinking..” Khushi stated. “What will you do when I will be in there?”


Arnav’s face glowed at her query.

“That’s a very tricky question Miss Gupta” he grinned. “ I don’t think I can answer that now. But I promise you, that day will come soon”


Khushi’s brows twitched high.

“The way we are spending time with each other from last month, I too think the same”

He laughed pulling her closer and kissed her forehead. NK and Nani were out and it was their turn to see the baby and meet Lavanya.


Lavanya was holding the baby in her arms when they entered.

“You seem fine Mommy..” Arnav teased Lavanya. “And look at you there…” He carried the baby boy in arms.


Khushi admired Arnav as he talked to the baby in a different tone.

“How’s my champ?”

The baby was fast asleep. Khushi’s eyes filled with tears as she touched the baby.

“Sorry” she whispered in his ears. Arnav watched her surprised but then he recalled why she said that to him. She had once questioned this baby’s identity and even though Khushi had apologized to Lavanya for the same, she had always wanted to seek forgiveness from the baby too.

“He will forgive his aunt” Arnav mumbled.

Khushi wiped her tears.

“I know.. he will”

“Hello there.. I also need some pampering guys” Lavanya pouted.


Khushi moved to her and gave her a quick hug. Her and Lavanya’s relationship had evolved in the last one month. Though Khushi was still restrictive to what she shared with her, yet they were more than cordial now.


“How was the experience?” Khushi asked.

“Very tiring but.. once I saw him, all my pain just eased off”


Khushi glanced at Arnav again who was still playing with the baby. He looked so prepared to be a father. Lavanya noticed the way Khushi was admiring Arnav. Whatever ups and downs they all had faced so far, one thing never changed and that was Khushi’s feelings for Arnav and vice versa. They both supported each other and that kept their relation growing in the right direction.


“Khushi aunty” Arnav teased. “Come on here and take your nephew”

“Me?” she was scared. “No.. I mean.. I have never held a baby before..”

“You think we had?” Lavanya pushed her. “Go and take him. Trust me, you will be fine”


That was enough to boost Khushi. Arnav gently placed the baby in her arms and cuddled them both from behind.

“How’s the feeling?” he whispered in her ears.

“Out of the world” she gasped kissing the baby gently. “I am going to pamper him so much. But I am going to let him win his own battles and teach him to stand for himself and his family at all times”

“I have no doubt” he mumbled cuddling Khushi and his nephew closer and kissing Khushi’s hair. Lavanya rolled her eyes as she watched them romance before her son. But she didn’t intervene. It was their moment too, after all.

45 days later


Shantivan was lit with thousands of colorful lights to welcome the Raizada Bride. Arnav Singh Raizada and Khushi Gupta’s marriage rituals took place in Prem Nivas as they had wished for and they were on their way to Shantivan. Nani had left early from the wedding venue to prepare for welcoming the bride. Ruby and Aman had assisted her fully. They had left nothing for the last moment. Right from assisting Nani with the Puja preps till the post wedding games, they were set with everything.


“Nani, they have reached” Ruby rushed inside the house to inform Nani who picked the Puja thali and hurried out to welcome the newlyweds. As decided, they had a simple wedding with only close relatives and friends invited for this event. Circling the thali before the couple, Nani welcomed them in the house. But Nandakishore stopped them. He and Lavanya had accompanied the newlyweds from Prem Nivas to Shantivan and they didn’t let the two get inside yet.

“No ASR.. not like this. You cannot walk with my sister inside” NK teased.

“Nani” Lavanya came ahead with her 45 days old son Laksh in her arms. “Didn’t you tell ASR that he has to carry his wife all the way till the living room?”


Arnav grinned at the opportunity.

“Just till the living room?” Arnav teased. “How about we skip all the next rituals and I take her directly to my room?”


Everyone laughed. Khushi pinched his arm. He was openly declaring everyone that he wanted to romance his wife??

“No cheating, Arnav” Nani shied. “Until you both play the post wedding games, no one is allowed to go back to the rooms”


He faked a sigh but the next second, Khushi was in his arms. He strode lazily to the living room, his gaze glued on his wife all the time and then put her down. Khushi was startled as she and Arnav were explained about the games they had to play. The first one was simple. A yellow thread was tied to them each with multiple knots, during the pre-wedding rituals and they now had to remove it from their partner’s wrist, using one hand. It sounded fun.


“Whoever unties first will have the upper hand in the household decision making” Nani explained.


Khushi was excited to play this. Whilst the others kept cheering them, Arnav and Khushi hurried to untie the knots. Khushi won.

“You always knew who the boss is, Mr. Raizada!!” Khushi mocked.


Arnav had never seen Khushi so excited and seeing her win these cute games had a different feeling altogether. They were then asked to find the ring from a large bowl filled with milk, rose petals and pebbles. Once again, they had to find the ring using one hand.


“ASR.. you got to win this” Lavanya cheered.

“Khush.. come on, you can win this too” NK shouted from Khushi’s side. Nani held Laksh in her arms, watching her grandchildren play the games with so much of enthusiasm.


After a rigorous search for the ring and in between their dancing and teasing fingers, Arnav finally found the ring. Khushi sighed in displeasure but the moment Arnav inserted that ring in her finger and he kissed the back of her palm, before everyone, desire exploded heavily in her blood. All she wanted was him right now minus the guests and games. Tonight, was yet another night of their union and she had plans to make it special for this man… for her husband.

Two hours Later


Ruby jumped knowing Khushi’s idea. They were in Arnav’s bedroom after the guests left and had strictly told Lavanya not to send Arnav until she gets a signal from Khushi or Ruby.


“Seriously? You are really going to do that?” she asked helping Khushi unhook her Lehnga.

“What else have I called you here for?”

Ruby’s excitement was out of control.

“I cannot believe this.. Is that really you? THE Khushi Gupta? The one who hardly smiled.. always dominated people and never danced?”


Khushi watched herself in the mirror. She had that same question for herself. Was she still the same or had Arnav’s love changed her? The answer was right there.. in front of her .. in her own reflection in the mirror. She was smiling… something she missed doing before.. She might not be dominating people anymore but she still knew how to get her work done. She had toned down her temper but that didn’t mean she was all calm. She still lost her cool many a times but she handled things patiently too. Yes, she had changed but she loved that change in her. It made her feel human again!!


“Stop blushing and go change. I don’t think Lavanya can hold Arnav down for long” Ruby dragged her to the bathroom door. 


“I don’t blush” Khushi snapped before locking herself in the bathroom.

After few minutes, Ruby came down. Arnav was still talking to Lavanya, Aman and NK who were the only ones still awake. Nani was off to sleep taking her medicines and Bella was hopping around the new house, finding a place for herself. Since Khushi was going to stay in Shantivan hereon, they had got Bella along and even built a small dog house for her next to the drawing room. But they both knew that every morning, Bella would be on their bed, waking them up.


“Guys” Ruby intervened the group. “We should go sleep now. In fact I have advised the same thing to Khushi. She’s got a bad headache”


Arnav was alarmed.

“Headache?” he asked.

“Yes. That’s why I helped her change and she is off to sleep. I have given her medicine”

Arnav blanched at that information and decided to leave. He knew Khushi had fasted for him today and until the marriage happened, she hadn’t eaten anything. It was once again a tradition of their family where the bride fasts on the wedding. He had denied her to do that considering it would be quite hectic and he didn’t want her to fall sick. But she wanted to complete all the rituals without any shortcuts. Last two months Khushi had improvised herself in every field. She had literally taken cooking classes from Nani and learnt every dish he loved. Khushi was working hard to be a good wife, which he knew she already was.

Arnav hurried to his room and pushed the door open, ensuring not to make much noise. The lights were dim and he could hardly see anything inside. If she was sleeping on the bed, he didn’t want to wake her up either. She needed good rest. He locked the door and made his way inside with the help of the moonlight which glowed in the room. That’s when he saw her!! Khushi was not on the bed.. She was right there.. Before him.. standing in a Black Saree.. holding the remote control of the music player in her hand. That sight of his wife was enough for him to realize she was going to fulfil the wish of dancing for him.. It was a dream come true for Arnav and he couldn’t wait.

She reached him in few strides, pushed him back on the bed and turned on the Music.. Namak Ishq Kaa…
