Chapter 39
Khushi’s POV
Chandrika has casted spell on Arnav through his dead twin brother who had blue eyes. That’s a kind of black magic spell which she did when Arnav’s mother gave birth to twins. But it’s not possible that the family never knew that she had delivered twin babies. At least Daadi should have known. Why did she never tell this to anyone from the next generation like Arnav, his cousin brothers or to Anjali? I need these answers to get into the root of the problem and that reminds me I have to now look for those proofs in the basement again.
With all these thoughts in the back of my mind, when I return home, I see Arnav busy packing stuff. He didn’t go to work today? And why is he packing bags?
“What is all this?” I ask him. “Are we going anywhere?”
He doesn't speak a word and continues to pack. The way he is packing its like we are moving from Sheesh Mahal, forever.
“Arnav, whats going on?” I block his way to the closet.
He gives me a cold look before pushing me away gently and strides to the closet again.
“I am sending you and the family to London.. Tonight..”
“What?” I scowl. “London? Tonight? And… what do you mean me and your family. What about you?”
He doesn't respond. I am pissed off. Already the revelations of Chandrika using his dead twin brother to cast a spell on him has given me enough chills, I can’t take more shocks today. So, this time I pin him to the closet.
“I asked you something, Arnav. What about you? Aren’t you coming with us to London?”
“No…” He snaps. “Not until I find whoever that Chandrika is and make sure she is locked up in the jail if at all she is doing any black magic on me.”
“Oh.. If that’s your plan let me tell you its utter lame.. You think she can’t control your mind from jail? She can and if you think I will let you be here alone then…”
Arnav turns me over and grabbing my arms pins me to the closet door in anger.
“I can hurt you, Khushi. I already have done that last night. I don’t want to do that ever again. So going away from me is the best thing you and the family can do at the moment.”
“I am not going anywhere. I don’t mind if the family is leaving but I am not leaving your side. We will overcome this together, Arnav..”
“Just do as I say..” he barks.
“No” I yell back. “If you want to save my life, I want to save yours too.”
His anger mellows down as I cup his face.
“I promise, I’ll fix this Arnav. We will soon be free from the spell of Chandrika..”
“How? How will be free?”
I am about to tell him what revelations I got to know from Sheetal regarding his birth but I shut my mouth.
“I can’t tell you because if I do, she would know…”
The instant I tell him this, Arnav’s eyes turn blue again. What? He… he is under the spell now? How? Before I can understand, Arnav grabs my arms and pins me to the wardrobe and leans closer. I am scared he would hurt me again.
“You think you can save him, huh?” He asks, there is a change in his tone too. It’s too rough and threatening types.
This is not Arnav speaking to me, it’s Chandrika.. through the black magic she has done on my husband. He twirls a strand of my hair before tucking it behind my ear, with a grin.
“You don’t know whom you are fighting against, Khushi…” he adds. “You’ll lose..”
Initially I was afraid of this blue-eyed version of his, unaware of who exactly he was but now that I know its Chandrika controlling my husband’s mind and body, this time I face her with double feistiness.
“What you don’t know so far is that Devi Maiyaa always wins over the Devil and with her blessings, I am going to free my husband from your spell very soon. It’s a promise of a Devi Maiyaa’s devotee.”
The moment I say this, I grab Arnav’s arm and make him forcefully touch the Devi Maiya’s locket in my chain. The instant his fingers come in contact with the chain, Arnav jerks back with force, as if someone pushed him and his eyes turn normal again. He looks disoriented for a few seconds.
“Khushi??” He looks confused. “What did I do again? Did I hurt you?”
I swallow nervously as I realize my poor husband knows he was under a spell for a certain period of time. Even if I wish to tell him Chandrika tried to threaten me through him, I can’t.
“What the F*ck..!” Arnav kicks the small table before the recliner in frustration of not being able to recall what just happened and the Coffee he was probably drinking spills on the floor. Coffee? He usually doesn't drink Coffee at this odd hour of night. Was it the way Chandrika controlled him at this very moment to threaten me and know my plans through him? I recall she had done the same by making someone call him when we were for his office work in Delhi. And Arnav had hurt himself and lost blood which was a way for Chandrika to use it as an offering on a no moon night?
Before Arnav can take out his frustration more, I turn him around.
“It’s okay. Nothing happened. You just threatened me. That’s all..”
“Did I hurt you.?” he asks checking me once from head to toe.
“No.. you didn’t… It was Chandrika threatening me, through you, Arnav. Tell me one thing. Why are you drinking coffee at night?”
Arnav looks at the spilled coffee and shrugs.
“I didn’t want to but my head was aching so I asked Daadi to send one for me. Why?”
Daadi!! She’ll have answers to my queries. I exhale not willing to put Arnav into more confusion.
“Nothing. I just asked. We are going nowhere, Arnav. And promise me, no matter what you will never even think of going away from me or pushing me away from you thinking you’ll hurt me.”
He doesn't say a word. His sad face makes me sad too. So I kiss his cheek and then cup his face again in between my palms.
“We will draw strength from each other and fight Chandrika together. Promise me.!!”
Before I can even understand his actions, Arnav pulls me for a tight hug. I hug him back. I am as confused with everything as he is but I know the only way to tackle Chandrika is to find her whereabouts and find the source of the spell she has in this house, probably connected to the basement which will help me pull my husband away from her black magic.
********************
Daadi finishes the morning Puja when I enter the small temple room of Sheesh Mahal. She smiles offering me the Prasad which I take from her.
“You knew Arnav’s mother had delivered twin babies?”
My direct question shocks her for a second.
“Who told you that?”
“Did you know it or not?”
“I…” She pauses to look around if anyone is listening to our conversation and then drags me to a corner where no one can hear us. “Yes I knew it… But who told you this?”
“You knew it then why doesn't anyone else know? Why wasn’t this even shared with others?”
“Because that wasn’t necessary. Arnav’s mother was pregnant with twins only me and her knew it and though I wanted to share this news with the family even during that time, she didn’t let me. She wanted to surprise my son… Arnav’s father by directly delivering two babies. But…” Daadi’s eyes fill with tears.. “Her accidental delivery in the basement in the absence of the family didn’t go well. She gave birth to one dead baby along with Arnav..”
Now my curiosity is even high.
“And what happened to that baby?”
“We don’t know..” Daadi sobs. “The woman who helped my bahu deliver, took the dead baby away…while my Bahu was unconscious. Thankfully that was the time when we all returned home and saw her in that state with Arnav lying beside her. We took her to the hospital immediately and when she woke up, she told me that she heard some woman’s whispers in the basement which is why she had been there to check and saw some black shadow chasing her. It was that very moment when her water broke and that same woman who probably was chasing her, helped her deliver. She clearly remembered giving birth to twins but one was already dead and before she could even mourn about it, she fell unconscious.”
I gape at Daadi as she continues to explain the past.
“We tried to look for who that woman was who took my dead grandson but we had no sources to find him and if we had discussed this issue with my husband or Arnav’s father, they would have been annoyed at me and Arnav’s mother for being so reckless and hiding such a crucial fact from them. Since the baby was already dead, I stopped looking for that woman… I couldn’t do much…”
I can’t believe this.. I am so angry right now at Daadi and even Arnav’s mother at some point for even hiding such a disastrous thing from the rest of the family at that time. Had they not, Arnav might not have landed up in this situation today.
“You know who that woman was who took that dead baby?” I scoff, “She was Chandrika..”
“What?” Daadi shouts. “How’s that possible.? Chandrika was dead already.. It’s her spell that was creating all these problems for us until the havan was done here..”
“No…” I decline. “Chandrika is alive and she has casted a spell on Arnav… His mind and body is in her control from the time he was born..”
“What?” Daadi is shocked. “But how is that possible??? I know we never found her body in that grave but..”
“Somebody saved her and she is alive.”
And then I tell Daadi everything about Sheetal and how we met her and she helped us know the truth of Arnav’s twin brother who had blue eyes and who died the very instant he was born. Daadi is shocked to know Chandrika is using the remains of that twin to control Arnav. I also tell her there is someone in this family or the palace who is giving every update to Chandrika and NK is finding that mole.
“Who made Arnav coffee today?”
“I made myself,” Daadi replies. “But I don’t know who served him and that point is maybe the person who spiked his coffee with the black magic stuff and the person who served him could be different. We can’t come to a conclusion of who is that helping hand until we find enough evidences.”
Daadi is right. But now comes the most important part of my revelation and I can’t wait to see Daadi’s reactions to it.
“And Chandrika was pregnant when she attempted that suicide.”
Daadi is shocked but she doesn't look very surprised about it. Now I am very sure there is something else she knows and is trying to hide from me.
“How can she be pregnant Daadi when she wasn’t even married to anyone that time.”
Daadi looks away.
“How.. how am I supposed to know?”
I turn her around.
“You know something, don’t you?”
“No..” Daadi is sweating..
“Whose child she was pregnant with? Was it Arnav’s fathers?”
“No..” she snaps.. “That child had nothing to do with my sons… Never!!”
“Then whose child was she carrying in her womb, Daadi?” I bark.
“I don’t know his name… I don’t know anything about him.”
She tries to leave the temple room but seeing her hesitation in answering I am sure she knows something and is still hiding it from me.
“You will lose your grandson if you don’t tell me, Daadi. Are you willing to sacrifice him for concealing the bitter truth of the past?”
She stops in her tracks but doesn't turn around and I hope at least now she is going to give me some clue so that I start hunting in the right direction
To be Continued..
Note: The truth of the past will be out in the next part

Vansh Kapoor
My best friend, Taani, assigned me the responsibility to help her find a suitable groom for her sister, Vidhi. I would have gladly done so if Vidhi hadn’t been my runaway bride, who didn't even acknowledge our marriage bond for 24 hours before fleeing from my life. Now she is right under my nose, letting her sister hunt marriage alliances for her, and the worst part is, I can’t even claim her as rightfully mine.

Vansh Kapoor, the man I ran away from five years ago on our first night after marriage, was a childhood friend of my elder sister who was now looking for prospective grooms for me. Vansh was dragged into this responsibility as Taani trusted him more than anyone else in the world. I may have had a reason to marry him in the past, but I’d no excuses to hold on to that relationship anymore. Especially not when I knew the selfish reason why he had married me in the first place.

Arshi find comfort in each other. Khushi asked Daadi about the twins. That woman was Chandrika who took the dead baby. How could Daadi hide this entire matter and even stopped looking for Chandrika.Whois the person who is helping Chandrika. Finally Khushi told about Chandrika being alive and somebody from the family is helping her to Daadi. Why is Daadi not revealing the name if it has nothing to do with Arnav's dad. ReplyDeleteMost of the things which so far Khushi got to know or found, digged is all Daadi already aware of. Daadi keeping secrets is one of the reason for all this happening and still she is trying to hide about Chandrika's pregnant matter. Khushi put some sense into Daadi old brain.
